In a prime location in the Aoi Ward district of Shizuoka, HOTEL OLE INN is located 19 km from Rengejiike Park Fuji Festival, less than 1 km from Shizuoka Station and 12 km from Shimizu Station. I had a single room that was efficiently laid out. I appreciated the fan in the bathroom. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner were effective, easy to rinse off, and without a cloying, heavy perfume. The "cold box" appeared to need ice on one side and food on the other side. The pillows were comfortable. The staff were great at finding the perfect location for my room. I smoke and asked to be situated near a smoking "booth" - a small room with good airflow, ashtrays, and closed off so the smoke doesn`t get into the hallway. They put me across the hall from one of these rooms. All rooms are non-smoking, so I was glad to have convenient access to one of these special rooms. They are located on several floors. While smoking is frowned upon by most people, it is nice to know that smokers have a place to go and the smoke will not bother anyone else. Although I can speak a little Japanese, they quickly located a bilingual staff member to make communication easy. He even offered me his personal phone number in case of problems after he left (I thanked him but didn`t take it, as I think people should not be expected to work outside of their planned schedule). The rest of the staff used translation apps. The breakfast was incredible. It was a buffet with a wide range of food: I had salad, yogurt, dessert, bacon, eggs, miso soup, rice, curry, steamed dumplings, salmon, mackerel, fruit salad, and a variety of casseroles. The pork/tomato sauce/cheese casserole was especially tasty. This is only what I sampled - I avoid carbs and there were several containers with bread and similar items. Both times I had breakfast, I didn`t feel hungry again until dinnertime. I needed business documents completed and chose to do this at a quiet time the night before I left rather than at checkout time when the staff would be busy. They were surprised but completed the special forms at my request. The staff were cheerful and helpful.

Set in Fujinomiya, 34 km from Lake Kawaguchi, Kyukamura Fuji offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a restaurant. Definitely a place to stay if you want to see Mt Fuji and its reflection on Lake Tanuki. There is a direct bus from Tokyo station and/or Mishima Station to the hotel, but with only a taxi option from Mt. Fuji station on Lake Kawaguchiko. Food is excellent, service is impeccable, and the onsen is to 'die for.'

Set in Oyama, 27 km from Fuji-Q Highland, Fuji Speedway Hotel, in The Unbound Collection by Hyatt offers accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a fitness centre and a terrace. Best hotel In Japan! The room was big, comfortable, we booked the speedway view since in the summer you don’t see Mount Fuji and it’s was pretty amazing, you can see the cars practice and race! My boyfriend loved it and the museum is very nice too. Very nice staff too :)

Facing the beachfront, Pearl Star Hotel ATAMI offers 5-star accommodation in Atami and features a fitness centre, terrace and restaurant. Onsen is the best and great room! Very beautiful

Set in Ito, ISANA Resort offers accommodation with free private parking, a bar and family rooms. We had a lovely stay at ISANA Premium Suite. The suite was spacious, and we were fortunate to witness a perfect sunrise from our private terrace. The starry nights were unforgettable. Although the private onsen was small, it was awesome. The staff were very helpful, especially Vivian, who was very attentive to our needs. She provided detailed introductions to each course during dinner and breakfast, and we enjoyed every dish. We appreciate the dedication of the chef (the owner) and felt blessed to stay at this hotel. We will definitely come back. Thank you, Vivian, for the live performance of Canon in D. ISANA is just a 5-minute drive from Jogasaki Coast, making it a perfect location.

Conveniently located in the Izu Nagaoka Onsen district of Izunokuni, Kona Stay Bicycle Resort is set 10 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, 24 km from Mount Daruma and 42 km from Hakone-Yumoto Station. The staff was very friendly and kind and even reserved a great restaurant for us for dinner (thank you Chie). The room had plenty of space and was partially traditional. The combination of bike rental, onsen and fireplace was perfect in my opinion.

Situated in Nishiizu, 400 metres from Sehama Beach, il azzurri features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. We really enjoyed our stay - the resort had two onsens, plus footbaths near the free self-serve snack and drink bar overlooking the bay. Our room included a private balcony with a bath. The staff didn't speak much English, but were very friendly and helpful. Best stay during our two week trip. The hotel is located close to the Tombolo land bridge. If we ever return to this part of Japan, we would come here again.

Mars Garden Wood Gotenba promises its guests relaxing spa treatments, a hot spring bath and karaoke rooms, only a 10-minute drive from Gotenba Premium Outlet. The best hotel I have ever been to. Japanese hotels are always next level compared to ours in Europe, but this one was simply amazing. The only thing that might seem strange at first is the breakfast, not everything there was delicious. But that's my personal preference, so I didn't lower the ratings for that.
