Beautiful hill station town with all the amenities of a city. All cuisines available in restaurants. Drives to Cherrapunji and other parts of Meghalaya are scenic. Barapani (Umiam) lake is outstanding. Traffic can be congested during school hours, so avoid those.
Its a cluttered, extremely crowded city. Way too much traffic jams. Every sightseeing spot is a tourist spot where tons of people visit to take quick selfies and get out. Not worth. It can be a point to arrive n depart to rest of Meghalaya Things I did - David scott trek which is around 20 km from Shillong Lunch at Dylan cafe. Great place for good music n ambience Dinner at Shillong cafe. Good ambience and food.
One of major hill station of North east is perfact for your holiday throughout the year. The place has pretty awesome weather and culture. You can explore all the sightseeing seeing of the state Meghalaya from here and the convenient way is to take a day tour bus of Meghalaya Tourism or to hire a taxy.

I would recommend to anyone wishing to travel to Meghalaya. The owner was amazing, he drove us to all the local sights and was always available help. He is one of the most genuine people we have met during our 6 weeks travelling India. He will make your stay in Meghalaya extremely easy and we will without doubt contact him if we come back to meghalaya. The rooms were clean and tidy and the local Kasi food prepared was exceptional.

Finally we had a nice shower and a toilette according to western standards. We chose the Polo Orchid for the last night in Meghalaya and enjoyed the comfort. We had a nice view into the valley and the planes of Bangladesh

This is this best hotel in shillong (near police bazar). Manager and their staff always ready to help you. Thier food quality is genuinely best in entire shillong. Thier hotel is spacious, comfortable and hygienic. It is a vegetarian hotel so all vegetarian must visit the hotel. You will surely love the hotel and their staff for years.
