Set in a 19th-century building, The Sands Hotel, Orkney is situated along the shore of Scapa Flow in Burray village. It has a bar, a restaurant and beautiful sea views. The staff was wonderful. They were welcoming, gracious and extra-accommodating. We arrived later than the restaurant was open, but they were willing to stay open and serve us from the Bar Menu (which was delilcious). The entire stay was delightful.

Beautiful spacious room, with spacious modern bathroom and cosy bed. Lovely breakfasts, excellent cosy private bar. Parking close by/out front if you time it right. Staff - amazing! Chef so lovely and lady on breakfast duty also - helped set up so we could watch the All Blacks v England rugby match early in the morning. Chef also showed some interesting local events being the Orca visiting the harbour. Made us feel very welcome. Breakfasts were great - lots of choice

Location was coinvent to shopping and local restaurants. Parking was a little hard. Public car park nearby, but had to get free ticket every hour till 5PM, then free all night. Out the next morning. Small town and able to get our clothes washed in a nearby laundromat.

Looking out across the harbour of the Orkney Islands’ largest town, The Kirkwall Hotel features a high-quality restaurant and bar along with stylish en suite rooms. I loved everything about it. Close to the harbour, short walk to the bus, great view, comfortable, beautiful building.

Located on the shore of Harray Loch and family-run for over 30 years, the Merkister Hotel is a 15-minute drive from the main towns of Kirkwall and Stromness. The breakfast was beyond expectations. Absolutely delicious and hearty portions!

Set in Kirkwall, Orkney, family-run Ayre Hotel & Ayre Apartments overlooks Kirkwall harbour. It offers local produce in its restaurant and traditionally styled rooms, with free Wi-Fi. Manager was very helpful, the meal was very good. Great shower.

The Stromness Hotel is set in Stromness. This hotel offers free WiFi. Ring of Brogdar is 6 km away and Standing Stones of Stenness is 6 km from the hotel. All rooms in the hotel are fitted with a TV. The hotel is just walking distance to the pier and coop shop. there are a lot of restaurants around the area as well. A perfect place if you want to explore around orkney's highlights such as skara brea, ring of brodgar and yesnaby cliffs. there is a cycle hire near the hotel as bus times are really hard to come by. I like my room, despite is budget friendly, it has the view of the sea and a decent space. Receptionist Ula is amazing and approachable, she greeted me at the entrance and oriented me to the place such as fire exit, alarm tests (at a certain day) and the restaurant for breakfast, shes also knowledgeable around the area. There are other workers during that time as they are doing a bit of renovation but everyone is friendly and welcoming. the renovation didnt bother me at all. i had a good nights sleep and the bed is so comfortable. The second day I met Ellie, another receptionist which is also great, we had a good conversation about Orkney. would come back again and definitely book to this place again
