Situado num edifício do século XIX, o The Sands Hotel, Orkney está situado ao longo da costa de Scapa Flow, na aldeia de Burray. Tem um bar, um restaurante e belas vistas para o mar. The staff was wonderful. They were welcoming, gracious and extra-accommodating. We arrived later than the restaurant was open, but they were willing to stay open and serve us from the Bar Menu (which was delilcious). The entire stay was delightful.

Chef so lovely and lady on breakfast duty also - helped set up so we could watch the All Blacks v England rugby match early in the morning. Chef also showed some interesting local events being the Orca visiting the harbour. Made us feel very welcome. Breakfasts were great - lots of choice

Breakfast was great. Location was coinvent to shopping and local restaurants. Parking was a little hard. Public car park nearby, but had to get free ticket every hour till 5PM, then free all night. Out the next morning. Small town and able to get our clothes washed in a nearby laundromat.

The Stromness Hotel is set in Stromness. This hotel offers free WiFi. Ring of Brogdar is 6 km away and Standing Stones of Stenness is 6 km from the hotel. All rooms in the hotel are fitted with a TV. The hotel is just walking distance to the pier and coop shop. there are a lot of restaurants around the area as well. A perfect place if you want to explore around orkney's highlights such as skara brea, ring of brodgar and yesnaby cliffs. there is a cycle hire near the hotel as bus times are really hard to come by. I like my room, despite is budget friendly, it has the view of the sea and a decent space. Receptionist Ula is amazing and approachable, she greeted me at the entrance and oriented me to the place such as fire exit, alarm tests (at a certain day) and the restaurant for breakfast, shes also knowledgeable around the area. There are other workers during that time as they are doing a bit of renovation but everyone is friendly and welcoming. the renovation didnt bother me at all. i had a good nights sleep and the bed is so comfortable. The second day I met Ellie, another receptionist which is also great, we had a good conversation about Orkney. would come back again and definitely book to this place again
