The atmosphere was great, the decoration and history of the building was unique. The staff, the ambiance and the food were superb! We had such an enjoyable time, if anything not long enough to soak it all in. Having a tour after breakfast was a great extra we didn’t know was available on booking, and we learnt so much about the castle. The History leaflets made for great reading as well. The room guard is another wonderful little touch. We stayed in the Derwentwater Room (room 1), and what a room it was! Highly recommend for anyone to stay and we hope to be back to try out another room.

Gististaðurinn er staðsettur í Morpeth og Alnwick-kastalinn er í innan við 33 km fjarlægð. We spent a couple of days at The Star Inn with our dog exploring the area, it was a perfect base. The rooms were spotless with everything you need and being on ground level with a small fenced patio area is ideal for furry friends. We ate each night in the pub and the food was excellent, genuine Italian cooked by the Italian chef. The breakfasts were great too! Thank you Karen and team for your friendly hospitality.

The pictures honestly don't do it justice. We stayed in the cottages and it was just wonderful. Sleepy and quiet, comfortable, great bathrooms and comfy bed. The food was great and the staff super friendly. Very walkable and quiet neighborhood. Pet friendly -- it was adorable to see all the dogs (made us miss ours back home). Great location if you want some seaside fun and visiting Bamburg Castle .

Words really fail me to explain how special this property was. The attention to every single detail was exquisite. I’m a professional organizer. My business is details. I’ve never seen anything like this. Everything - even the lights on the floor that automatically come on when you walk into the bathroom - was planned perfectly when this former convent was remodeled to make a sacred space for all its guests. There was even framed sheet music in the halls to, I assume, pay homage to the beautiful music that must’ve once graced the hallways. The staff was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was like something out of a Veranda magazine spread. The breakfast was delicious. At every turn in the hotel and the room itself, we were met with a delightful and unexpected experience. Who puts this much thought into a public space? The Cookie Jar does. You made our once-in-a-lifetime trip unforgettable.
