England's most northerly hotel, just 300 yards from the Scottish Border, the Marshall Meadows Manor House is set in 15 acres woodland gardens and boasts sea views and good food. Beautiful hotel in nice location, very clean rooms. I would like to visit it again :)

This magnificent 14th-century castle is set in a 12-acre woodland estate. The atmosphere was great, the decoration and history of the building was unique. The staff, the ambiance and the food were superb! We had such an enjoyable time, if anything not long enough to soak it all in. Having a tour after breakfast was a great extra we didn’t know was available on booking, and we learnt so much about the castle. The History leaflets made for great reading as well. The room guard is another wonderful little touch. We stayed in the Derwentwater Room (room 1), and what a room it was! Highly recommend for anyone to stay and we hope to be back to try out another room.

Situated in Morpeth and with Alnwick Castle reachable within 33 km, The Star Inn - Harbottle - Near Rothbury - Northumberland features express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free... We spent a couple of days at The Star Inn with our dog exploring the area, it was a perfect base. The rooms were spotless with everything you need and being on ground level with a small fenced patio area is ideal for furry friends. We ate each night in the pub and the food was excellent, genuine Italian cooked by the Italian chef. The breakfasts were great too! Thank you Karen and team for your friendly hospitality.

The pictures honestly don't do it justice. We stayed in the cottages and it was just wonderful. Sleepy and quiet, comfortable, great bathrooms and comfy bed. The food was great and the staff super friendly. Very walkable and quiet neighborhood. Pet friendly -- it was adorable to see all the dogs (made us miss ours back home). Great location if you want some seaside fun and visiting Bamburg Castle .

Featuring free WiFi and a terrace, The Cookie Jar (Alnwick) was formerly the Convent of Mercy, and is just 0.2 miles from the centre of Alnwick. Words really fail me to explain how special this property was. The attention to every single detail was exquisite. I’m a professional organizer. My business is details. I’ve never seen anything like this. Everything - even the lights on the floor that automatically come on when you walk into the bathroom - was planned perfectly when this former convent was remodeled to make a sacred space for all its guests. There was even framed sheet music in the halls to, I assume, pay homage to the beautiful music that must’ve once graced the hallways. The staff was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was like something out of a Veranda magazine spread. The breakfast was delicious. At every turn in the hotel and the room itself, we were met with a delightful and unexpected experience. Who puts this much thought into a public space? The Cookie Jar does. You made our once-in-a-lifetime trip unforgettable.
