Set in tranquil surroundings with large landscaped grounds and a picturesque garden terrace with mountain views, Tongariro Crossing Lodge offers uniquely spacious rooms with historic character. The staff provided exceptional guidance so that we could take stunning views of the mountains during sunset. Very high quality breakfast. Overall, exceeded my expectations in this rather remote/resource limited (to a city person at least) location.

Boasting river views, Beech Tree Lodge provides accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 24 km from Turoa. Unbeknown to the host our Whanau live directly across the road so to find this gem was perfect will definitely come back

Ruapehu Country Lodge is located within a 15-minute drive of Tongariro National Park, home of the world-renowned Tongariro Crossing. Free Wi-Fi access is available in this lodge. Breakfast was great - hand built to order with a lot of fresh and homemade ingredients. Sauna really helped after a day on the mountain. Grounds are beautiful and relaxing. Loved the sheep and alpacas.

Plateau Lodge is located 15 minutes’ drive from UNESCO World Heritage listed Tongariro National Park, where guests can enjoy skiing, hiking, cycling and paddling activities. It’s a very lovely property to stay in, the beds are super comfy, the lounge is spacious. I had really bad blisters from a hike and couldn’t do much but spending the time in the lodge was great.

Offering a barbecue and views of the mountain, Pukenui Lodge is situated in National Park in the Manawatu Region. Turangi is 41 km from the property. Love this place - always so clean, welcoming and cosy. Has great facilities for children and the shared kitchen works great for prepping lunches for up the mountain. A glass of wine on the deck looking at the mountain was a highlight for me!

Set in the heart of National Park, Pipers Lodge boasts an onsite bar and restaurant. Guests can socialise in the shared lounge and warm up by the fireplace. The staff were really friendly and the log fire was cosy

Offering a terrace and garden view, Tui Glen is set in Raurimu, 21 km from Taranaki Falls and 27 km from Whakapapa. I found it an amazing property! It's like a little house. I very much enjoyed the stay. The covered deck and the bush were really good.

Alpine Chalets has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, set in National Park. Awesome friendly staff, great location, clean & comfortable room with a good view.

Featuring amazing views of Mt Ruapehu, 2 hot tubs and a restaurant with a large deck area, Kings Ohakune is 2 minutes’ walk from Ohakune Station and 3 minutes' walk from the start of the Ohakune... Very kind receptionist and the cook.

Featuring a guest lounge with a fireplace, Howard’s Lodge is located in National Park Village, less than 15 km away from Mount Ruapehu. Free WiFi is included. Stayed in a clean and tidy basic double room. Nice location with a couple of food/drink options within walking distance. Had free laundry which was useful after a few days walking around Tongariro.
