This is a building that was a hotel in 1711. We love staying in old lodgings like this. It is in a quiet little village within a short drive of many attractions. The host, Debbie, was wonderful and spoke of local sites to see.

We had dinner at the pub and, having French standards, the meal was unexpectedly delicious. So was the breakfast. Our best accommodation during our road trip in Scotland

The room was beautiful and clean. The staff was extremely friendly. When I arrived too late to eat dinner in their restaurant, they called another restaurant for me and arranged a reservation. They also upgraded my room due to availability without me asking. They were wonderful.

With luxurious seating, the Knights restaurant serves an a la carte menu and a selection of after dinner drinks. The service was unmatched, every member of staff were helpful, efficient and friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. The restaurant menu was great - a lot of variety especially with the specials menu changing frequently too. Breakfast was also a winner, continental and a full Scottish breakfast if you wanted (you could pick as many or as less items as wanted). The hotel is more than 300 years old so it was lovely staying somewhere that holds a small amount of history.
New Galloway
This 280 year old coaching inn in the heart of New Galloway boasts cosy en suite rooms, real ale, a good selection of malts, and a popular local produce restaurant.
Experience traditional hospitality at its very best. Set in an area surrounded by beautiful Lochs, forests and miles of unspoilt countryside, the area surrounding the hotel is ideal for fishing, stalking/shooting, golf, walking, cycling, bird/wildlife watching, painting, photography and watersports – or for just doing nothing at all!
Lovely old hotel in the middle of the village. I called in & asked if I could drop off heavy rucksack & the proprietor Susan said I could check in early. She was very nice to chat with & so helpful. Comfy room & bed, good shower. Everything I needed. Big breakfast. I had a great walk down to Kenmure Castle - fascinating, spooky place in beautiful surroundings (see my photo). Could have very happily stayed for a week!

Beautifully decorated guest house with gorgeous rooms. Great location, short walk to the High St. Private off road parking. Wonderful cooked breakfast with high quality ingredients. Fantastic friendly hosts Kevin & Nikki, nothing too much trouble. Highly recommended.
Amazing location - heart of the Galloway Forest. The cabin offered a well-equipped wooden home - had everything you need, small cooking area and fully furnished. Loved the bathroom! Roll top bath and spacious luxury. Peaceful setting - and oh my! The night sky views were wonderful! Loved using the fire pit to cook dinner on. Jeannot and Frazer were wonderful hosts who could do no more for us. Utterly wow!
There was off street parking available. While Dumfries Villa is an old building - the room was clean and comfortable. The location was good - to where we could walk to a good pub for dinner. The breakfast was freshly cooked and lovely. The staff were helpful & polite. So overall a good experience.
The hotel is excellent and really great staff. Very attentive. We had an excellent check in, dinner and breakfast.
We needed to make a last minute booking, they were very accommodating and checked that my partner would be okay with the narrow stairs to the room. It was a really nice room- I've been in larger rooms before that didn't actually feel as spacious. They were also very helpful in getting us situated for a table for dinner.
The hotel was a great base for exploring the Dumfries and Galloway area, and a great place to rest and recuperate if you have been doing a lot of travelling. The dinner menu was excellent.
I had a warm welcome at this historic inn, which has been comfortably modernised. A highlight was the excellent evening meal that I ate there - Balmoral Chicken followed by a raspberry crumble.
An ideal guest house. Friendly, helpful owners. Excellent breakfast. If we stay in Moffat again we will stay with them again. It was a short walk into the centre of Moffat and we had a number of eateries to choose from for dinner and had an excellent meal. We were able to park the car behind the guest house well away from the street.
