Hello! My name is Viriato Menezes, and I am the host of Quinta das Hortênsias. This is a family business that I have the pleasure of managing for a few years. I am originally from Madeira and, after living more than 20 years away from the island, I returned to my roots to create a welcoming space where visitors can enjoy the beauty of our land. I am a trained visual artist and continue to be active in my passion for art. I enjoy welcoming guests with warmth and am always available to assist and share recommendations on the best experiences Madeira has to offer. At Quinta das Hortênsias, you will not only find a relaxing environment but also the company of my two lovely dogs, who love to meet and be petted by our visitors. Quinta das Hortênsias consists of two traditional Madeiran houses, each divided into two apartments, located in Arco de São Jorge on the stunning north coast of Madeira Island. This tourist unit offers magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean and the lush Laurisilva Forest, along with a beautiful central garden that blooms year-round. The apartments and studios, set in family-owned vineyard houses, feature decor that blends quality antique furniture with modern comfort. Each self-catering unit includes a fully equipped kitchenette, a bedroom, a garden, and a furnished terrace. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, including in the garden. Nearby, within a 10-minute walk, are several local restaurants serving traditional Madeiran cuisine. The closest, "Casa de Chá Roseiral," is just a 5-minute walk away and offers a breakfast buffet for an additional cost. Guests may also choose to prepare their meals in the kitchenette. In the village center, the bar "A Ladeira" is known for its traditional Poncha and snacks like cheese and charcuterie boards. Close by, the Wine and Vineyard Museum preserves winemaking instruments and offers delicacies like honey cake and honey broas, available for an additional cost. The nearest beach is a 15-minute drive away. The famous São Vicente Caves are 30 minutes away by car, while the natural pools of Porto Moniz are 40 minutes away. The center of Funchal is 45 minutes by car, and Madeira International Airport is 35 minutes from Quinta das Hortênsias.
