  • hi, are any of the bedrooms on the ground floor?

    Hello - sorry for the delay in replying. The house is on three floors. The kitchen/dining area and cloakroom are on the street level, you go downstairs for the lounge and upstairs for all three bedrooms and the bathroom.

  • Can I park there? hello, it states on the site that there is free parking, can I ask where this is located as the front faces a road with double yellow lines and the rear of the property is a little wet for our car! I can't see anywhere obvious on google earth. regards Kay

    Hello Kay - your message made me smile..yes, parking to the rear is a bit damp! There is parking on The Sills (about 30m from the front door) or Ullathorne Rise (a road almost opposite). I’ve never had to park further away than those options.

A truly amazing location! This unique house sleeps six comfortably and offers beautiful views of the River Tees and Barnard Castle’s castle. Perfect for walking, bird watching, photography and touring the wonderful North East. There is also fishing… riparian rights provide the right to fish (providing you have a licence). Barnard Castle is a lovely town to wander around and the centre is only a 5 minute walk away. Families with children are asked to message in advance for guidance regarding ensuring safety re. stairs and windows. Due to owner allergies, this is a strictly no pets property. Thank you for your understanding.
I just love the North East! Originally from the South, I moved North in 2004 and began discovering my local and less local areas. A friend introduced me to County Durham and I was hooked! I am in Barnard Castle from time to time and more than happy to answer any questions. My daughter and I manage the letting of the house and so I will provide a mobile phone number to guests should they need to get in touch during their stay.
Barnard Castle is a market town in Teesdale. Within the town are a selection of independent and high street shops together with a Morrisons supermarket. A larger selection of shops can be found in Bishop Auckland and Darlington. The town is full of interesting places to visit: the castle, Bowes Museum (built in the style of a French chateau opened in 1892) and for music and theatre lovers there is The Witham. Within easy reach of local wedding venues. You are close to High Force and Low Force, fantastic walks, Raby Castle and much, much more. I am more than happy to provide ideas and tips so you can make the most of your stay! Buses from the high street in “Barney”. Nearest mainline train station at Darlington (No 75 bus). Parking is on the street a very short walk from the front door.
