Attractive market town with lots of history and other things to see. We took an excellent guided walk from the tourist information centre. We ate excellent tapas at the Little Drummer Boy Cocina.
Richmond is a great location for exploring Swaledale and the other dales as well ad the North York Moors. Durham and Newcastle are not far away.

Historic market town with castle has managed to retain small independent shops/traders rather than the usual run of the mill big brand names. Some very interesting old buildings especially in the back streets, and the castle of course. You need to be fit to take the castle walk but nice views across the valley from certain points.
Free parking "zones" for up to two hours, just get a "parking disc" from many of the smaller shops and display it in your windscreen.

Nice historic characterful town with good selection of shops...
Nice historic characterful town with good selection of shops and nearby attractions. Situated amid some of the best Yorkshire dales scenery.
The Market square is good for parking using a free disc available in most shops. Richmond probably houses one of the best pie shops in the world (the noted pie shop on the market square). Restaurants and cafes to suit every budget with large spaces for family dining abound.
Some very steep streets might be a mobility challenge for some but there is a great nearly level walk around the perimeter of the castle with breathtaking views of the river and town.

Lovely cottage with everything you need to enjoy your stay in north Yorkshire. We have visited north Yorkshire in the past but always stayed in the busy towns. The area that the Farthings is in is very peaceful and quiet but is in a great location to visit the surrounding area. The cottage was spotlessly clean and has a fully equipped kitchen so you don't need to take anything with you! Nice touch from Caroline to leave biscuits, homemade Marmalade and milk.
We, the groom’s family & friends, recently stayed a single night in preparation for his wedding nearby the next day. The party of 15 guests stayed in various deluxe & classic dbls, twin and single rooms. We all ate in the restaurant and were extremely pleased with the service, food, rooms, breakfast the next day and also the handy car park at the back of the hotel. Would fully recommend to anyone staying in and around Richmond.
This is our third stay at Mount Pleasant. We return owing to the high standard accommodation in a beautiful location. The decor and attention to detail in the cottages is incredibly high and the location is superb for exploring Yorkshire and the North East. The setting has superb views and is incredibly peaceful.
We were self catering but the host left us a lovely welcome pack and milk, The little cottage was perfect for two people just like home from home. Perfect location so quite and peaceful great place for getting about in the Yorkshire Dales.
