We offer a dedicated off-road parking space for your convenience. Explore the nearby historic city of Wells just 4 miles away, or venture to the mystical town of Glastonbury only 8 miles from our doorstep. For outdoor relaxation, our roof garden is the perfect spot to enjoy the delightful summer evenings al fresco with the option of using our outdoor furniture upon request. The 400-year-old market townhouse in Shepton Mallet has a rich history dating back to the early 17th century. Originally built as a traditional market townhouse, it would have been a bustling hub of activity for local merchants and traders. Over the centuries, our townhouse has seen many changes and renovations as Shepton Mallet evolved and developed. It has played a role in the local community, serving as a residence for prominent figures and being used for various commercial purposes I.e. fish and chip shop, cobblers shop and restaurant Our townhouse would have witnessed the passage of time, with generations of residents and visitors passing through its doors. Today, 12 Town Street and the flat has been lovingly preserved and restored to offer modern amenities while still retaining its historic charm. Hello, I'm Ruth, and I've been a lifelong resident of Shepton Mallet. I share my home with my partner, Dean, and we have three grown-up children as well as a beloved dog named Marley. In my leisure time, I thoroughly enjoy taking long walks in the beautiful countryside surrounding Shepton Mallet. The Mendip Hills and the nearby areas offer a plethora of picturesque trails, and to make your exploration easier, I've thoughtfully included an Ordnance Survey map in the apartment, featuring all the delightful walks in this region for you to discover. Furthermore, I'm passionate about both yoga and Tai Chi and have the pleasure of teaching both practices within our local community throughout the week.
Shepton Mallet is a tranquil, historic market town, steeped in history. You'll find regular historical walks and talks available, which you can inquire about at our local Tourist Information Center situated at the top of town. One notable piece of our history is the Cornhill Prison, the oldest prison in England, which has only recently closed its doors. If you're fortunate, you might still have the opportunity to experience a ghost tour or a regular tour before it is transformed into housing, sadly marking the end of an era. Beyond its historical significance, Shepton Mallet serves as an ideal hub for various travel, exploration, and entertainment ventures.
