The people working there were super friendly. I especially liked the female only floor (highest level). The hostel also offers free towels and complementaries like shampoo, a soap bar and a vanity set.

Hotel Waterloo & Backpackers offers budget accommodation in the centre of Wellington. It features a 24-hour guest kitchen, self-service laundry facilities and a games room with pool tables. This was my first hostel stay, and I was pleasantly shocked. I expected a run-down, outdated dump, but I loved staying here! The rich history of the structure is respected and preserved, yet everything pertaining to comfort has been nicely updated and modernized—beautiful washroom, comfy beds and pillows. The pub next door is gorgeous, and the breakfast special was so good, and what a great value! I was actually a little sad to leave. My daughter and I were able to store our luggage in a locker, no charge, while we explored downtown Wellington.
