Attractively set in the Toyako Onsen district of Lake Toya, Toyako Guest House Ponkotan is situated 300 metres from Lake Toya, 40 km from Muroran and 40 km from Higashi-muroran Station. Incredible, incredible host! Probably the best hospitality during my trip in Japan, and that is saying something! Gave great recommendations for things to do, and even shared some local desserts with me one day. The hostel itself is super clean and cozy, good Wi-Fi!

Situated 1.4 km from Otaru Station, The Otaornai Backpacker's Hostel Morinoki offers 1-star accommodation in Otaru and has a garden, a shared lounge and a terrace. Spent three wonderful days here, very cozy Japanese traditional house. The staff make me feel warm. What's interesting is that on Chinese New Year's Eve (it's also my birthday) I sat in the restaurant with the hostel boss I guess, I was eating my meal, he was using the computer, and it was quiet around the fire until late at night. He kindly helped me clean up my kitchen waste. I got a sticker at the front desk to put on my suitcase. All are unforgettable memories.

Fully equipped kitchen, big beds, close to a big supermarket, and the effort that the host Ryo puts into the job is amazing. He will drive you everywhere and recommend hikes in the local area. The best recommendation you can get as a host has to be that the customers come back, and I've already been there twice on my trip around Japan :)
