Set in Lerwick, 600 metres from Bain's Beach, Islesburgh House Hostel offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. Kitchen, dining hall and games room all looked great, clean and well-equipped. We really enjoyed our stay.

The Dolphin Inn Hostel features free bikes, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Dunbar. This place is a total gem. Fun and quirky. Spotlessly clean and so quiet, despite being full. Facilities are amazing. Location superb. And amazing value. Can't wait to return.

Situated in Helmsdale and with Dunrobin Castle reachable within 26 km, Helmsdale Lodge Hostel - all rooms en-suite features express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi... Irene the owner and Marie the manager were very friendly and welcoming. This hostel is one of the best hostels we have ever stayed at.

The hut had all the right facilities including a microwave, kettle, fridge etc. Beds were comfy and the fire pit was a great touch

Set in Braemar, 21 km from Balmoral Castle, Braemar Youth Hostel offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a bar. Braemar is tiny and the hostel is just a short walk down the road from the centre, where the 201 bus stops. Facilities are excellent : large kitchen with all facilities and storage space, a breakfast room, a dining/meeting room and a large sitting room with tv and sofas. My dormitory was spacious with very comfortable bunk beds and lockers. (You need your own lock). There are large washing machines and dryers in the drying room(where you can hang wet outdoor clothing and put boots etc,) (Full large load with powder and drier for £6). You can arrange to have hostel breakfast forc an additional fee. WiFi is excellent when working but has minutes when it cuts out, but that goes with the location and probably affects the whole village,

Port Arthur House Halls of Residence is located in Scalloway. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and a shared lounge, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Excellent place and very friendly and helpful people. I had a great time.

New Town Hall Bunkhouse is offering accommodation in Whithorn. Boasting a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Guests can enjoy mountain views. The location was amazing …so many walks to do in that area. I got a 7 day bus pass and would take the bus to a spot then walk back along some of the paths and walking ways. The kitchen is absolutely perfect with everything you could need. The hostel is only 3 months old and purpose built as a bunkhouse/hostel.
