Set in Lerwick, 600 metres from Bain's Beach, Islesburgh House Hostel offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. I loved that it was warm. All the staff, from cleaning staff, night crew, community center staff and maintenance crew were helpful and friendly. I loved the building itsself, the kitchen was spotless, laundry facilities and central location. Excellent housing for price!

The Dolphin Inn Hostel features free bikes, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Dunbar. This place is a total gem. Fun and quirky. Spotlessly clean and so quiet, despite being full. Facilities are amazing. Location superb. And amazing value. Can't wait to return.

Situated in Helmsdale and with Dunrobin Castle reachable within 26 km, Helmsdale Lodge Hostel - all rooms en-suite features express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi... The manager Maria and the volunteer are super hostpitable and patient to my bad English. I was so lucky to own the whole 4- bed room as I was the only guest booking that room. The location is just aside the main road A 9 which is quite convenient to start off for a cyclist. I was told the hostel used to be a school, so you may find the dining room, living room and bed rooms are quite spacious and roofs are high.

Located in Ballater and within 18 km of Balmoral Castle, Ballater Hostel features a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi. This hostel is 100% recommendable! Located right in the centre of the lovely village Ballater. Reachable with the bus from Aberdeen also perfect for those coming with public transport. The hostel itself is very cosy and clean, the common area equipped with everything you need and spacious. The hosts Dominique and Daniel are very warm, welcoming and friendly, that are happy to provide you with any tips you need. We had a great time enjoying the Highland games and the stunning nature that surrounds Ballater!

Situated in Achiltibuie, Acheninver Hostel has a garden, BBQ facilities and free WiFi. The hostel features family rooms. Certain rooms have a kitchenette with a fridge and a microwave. This was the best hostel. It's really beautiful. The place is magical. The hostel is well equiped you can get a towl for free even (not in other hostels). The manager is kind and easy going. You have nice beach straight under the hostel. It's cozy so there is nice environment to meet with the other visitors.

Port Charlotte Youth Hostel is offering accommodation in Port Charlotte. This 4-star hostel offers a shared kitchen, a shared lounge and free WiFi. The hostel has family rooms. Wonderful place. Hostel was clean, host was so helpful and friendly. I'm so glad that I booked here. Hostel is right infront of the sea so you can listen to the sound of wave at night. Bus stop is about 2 minutes far so easy to go to other side of the island. Also you can find out some useful items that other guests left at the corner of kitchen too. I'll be sure to visit here again. Already missing there!

Port Arthur House Halls of Residence is located in Scalloway. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and a shared lounge, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Excellent place and very friendly and helpful people. I had a great time.

New Town Hall Bunkhouse is offering accommodation in Whithorn. Boasting a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Guests can enjoy mountain views. The location was amazing …so many walks to do in that area. I got a 7 day bus pass and would take the bus to a spot then walk back along some of the paths and walking ways. The kitchen is absolutely perfect with everything you could need. The hostel is only 3 months old and purpose built as a bunkhouse/hostel.

Boasting a garden and a shared lounge, Newcastleton Bunkhouse is set in Newcastleton, 39 km from Thirlwall Castle and 39 km from Cumbria County Council. Amazing place to stay on our cycling trip. Great bike storage and immaculate room.
