On top of this, Kyoto is only half an hour away by train. We came for a nice, relaxing place to stay but got a family who was so warm and welcoming. Mizu, the hostess of Smile guesthouse is a very kind and helpful person who speaks good English. She helped and guided us to make our stay even better. The guest house is a traditional Japanese house. Beautiful and full of details. And next to that you can eat fresh strawberries at the Tanaberry farm, which is a 8 minutes walking distance. We can recommend everyone to stay here. As we immediately extended our stay the day we arrived and are planning to definitely stay again the next time we travel to Japan.

【滋賀湖北の宿】去・来・現（Ko-Rai-Gen） se encuentra en Nagahama. A lovely place run by lovely people. I liked the spacious room for the two of us, the veranda, the beautiful temple which we were introduced to. The morning chanting and bell ringing was a really profound start to the day, and all offered in the most low key way. Really loved this Amida temple. 🌞 ☔ It was great to be told about the super sento 10 minutes walk away. 💦 Thanks so much for your generosity with lifts and other help. 🌻

蔵の宿 隠れ蔵 se encuentra en Nagahama, a 47 km de Castillo Hikone y a 24 km de Santuario Kehi Jingu. We had a great stay in this traditional little house ! Everything is clean, the kitchen is very well equipped, we loved the bathroom with a view of the surrounding fields and mountains. The family is lovely and has a great sense of hospitality. We will come back !

My wife and I are not young folks anymore. The trip to the bathroom during the night was somewhat difficult for us. The bedroom was on the upper floor in the lovely traditional Japanese house. The narrow stairway was challenging for us. There is ample room downstairs and perhaps owners would accommodate a request to put the bedding there.

It really did feel like staying at my grandparents house in Japan. The staff were so friendly, kind and intentional and the food prepared for us in the morning was phenomenal.
