Situated just 500 metres from Shingu Castle Ruins Park, AJITO Hostel & CafeBar provides accommodation in Shingu with access to free bikes, a bar, as well as full-day security. what a great little place. If you have a small group, the 4 ppl room on the 3rd floor is perfect. The place has lots of great info in multiple languages and the affiliated izakaya was the perfect place to go for dinner.

Situated in Wakayama with Kasai Park nearby, Surf Imin G-Sun features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a sauna. I absolutely loved Surf Inn G-Sun the perfect end to a wonderful working holiday in Nippon :-) The owner was very helpful and we talked and laughed and was also driven to Wakayama castle for a half day trip before being personally dropped of at the train station

Set just 1.4 km from Shirarahama Beach, ゲストハウス三軒家 features accommodation in Shirahama with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. Staying at Sangenya Guesthouse was one of our best experiences in Japan. The property itself is beautiful, clean and traditional. Of course, the town of Shirahama was also beautiful and having access to the beach within walking distance made it such a great location. We spent some wonderful days at the beach! Unfortunately, one of the days there was a typhoon - however our incredible hosts were so lovely and generous that it was actually a positive experience even when the weather outside was torrential. This trip marked the end of a year in Japan and even as we packed up our things to leave, we were talking about how we wanted to come back to the guesthouse in the future because the property and hosts were so wonderful. We also had some drinks at the property’s café, and both the hojicha and matcha were the best ones we’d tried in Japan!  We absolutely recommend the Sangenya Guesthouse!

Set in Shingu in the Wakayama region, with Kamikura Shrine and Shingu Castle Ruins Park nearby, くまの蔵inn Warehouse offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. We were overwhelmed by the kindness Koji-san showed us! The warehouse is a beautiful little apartment and we would have loved to stay even longer.

Featuring 2-star accommodation, Guest House Suzumeno Kakurembo is set in Koyasan, 37 km from Kishi Station and 44 km from Matsushita Park. Everything. The food is awesome

Offering quiet street views, Guest House hachi hachi is an accommodation situated in Koyasan, 37 km from Kishi Station and 43 km from Matsushita Park. This was one of the best accommodations I have stayed during my extensive travelling through Japan. I have nothing but words of best recommendations. The location is great, very close to the main Garan complex and Kongobuji temple. It is a place where I would love to stay again. The rooms and bathrooms vere very clean and in top shape. It gave the impression of luxury eventhough the main feeling about the hotel is more homey and cozy. It's run by a lovely young couple and our host could speak exceptional English! He gave us many useful tips about the town and pilgrimage trails. He also helped us with luggages and order of taxi and train shedule. He was always very polite and helpful with anything we needed. The place has wonderful view from window and rooms are very tastefuly decorated in traditional japanese style. If you are looking for peaceful housing to stay and enjoy Japan, this is your place.

Set within 10 km of Kamitonda Concert Hall and 11 km of Kozan-ji Temple, Kumano Winery Guest House provides rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Tanabe. Giovanni and Yutaka, the hosts and owners were very thoughtful and accommodating. We rode on his truck going to their farm where their goats are and it was super fun! The meals prepared by Giovanni, featuring his award-winning goat cheese, are very artfully prepared and served, not to mention very delicious!

Featuring 2-star accommodation, Guesthouse Yui is situated in Hongu, 8.5 km from Hosshinmon Oji Shrine and 23 km from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art. Sanae was an amazing host. We were in quite some trouble getting to the accommodation due to the bus line who didn’t drive at the evening. Sanae arranged a cap for us and comforted us. The kitchen was more than equiped and the possibility to buy a snack or drink for a small price really made our day. We met some amazing people and slept like a baby. The walls are quite thin, but everyone who has to hike has to go to sleep pretty early, so we didn’t experience any trouble. Thank you for the amazing stay and making us feel welcome
