I traveled with my mom, who is very particular, and she was RAVING about how wonderful this guest house was throughout the rest of our trip.

Featuring mountain views, Blue Garden Yogyakarta provides accommodation with patio, around 11 km from Museum Sonobudoyo. We really enjoyed our stay at Blue Garden. Friendly staff, spacious pool and good breakfast. We extended our stay and stayed for one week because it was so nice and quite.

Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a terrace, Rumah Desa Homestay is set in Prambanan. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. Very big clean room and bathroom. Extremely helpful and nice owner: he took us to the nice restaurant, to the louwak coffee plantation owner, he picked us up at the gate of Prambanan temple and drove to two other temples. Really great, open, outgoing man, smiling all the time! He also asked his wife to cook traditional indonesian dinner for us! Thank you so much for everything :)

ViaVia Guesthouse is located in the Mergangsan district of Yogyakarta, 2.7 km from Museum Sonobudoyo, 2.7 km from Fort Vredeburg and 3.8 km from Yogyakarta Presidential Palace. The highlight of this place are the people who work there. All the girls and guys at the reception are kind, smiling and ready to help with anything you ask (I needed to visit a dentist for a broken tooth when I was there...). They speak good English. The second highlight is the garden, with beautiful plants and cozy seating, and a pool if you want to cool down. Breakfast is not included with the dorm bed, it's Rp 35k (sweet toast or omellette), included if you book a private room. If you are leaving early like we did for Borobudur, they will get up at 5am to make you a fresh breakfast to take with you. Coffee and tea is available the whole day, as well as water refill. The shower has warm water. There are also kitchen utensils, plates/cups if you want to prepare your own food. Book early, it is a popular place. I wanted to extend and they were booked, had to find another place nearby for my last night in Jogja. But the reception girls told me I can still come by to hang out in the garden, which I did! Great place.

Andy and his family wlecomed us not just as guests but as part of their group of friends. They are all musicians and artists, so you get immediatly included in the best circle of people in Yogyakarta. Besides, their suggestions for what to do and see were always spot on. The village where the property is located is famous for its craftsmen, especially potters and basket makers, and there are plenty of wonderful places to see around. The place is a 15 min ride to the city on motorbike (very easy to get a Grab or Gojek for a couple of euros). The houses Andy built are beautiful and confortable, made with old carved wood pieces repurposed from other buildings. If you are interested in a off-turistic experience, I highly recommend staying here.
