The host, Elaine, was exceptional. Our room was at the back of the house and nice and quiet. Complimentary sips of whisky and chocolate helped us relax after a terrible travel day. Easy walking to city center and train station. Vegan breakfast was delicious.

Set in Gretna, the recently renovated Kirkcroft Guest House offers accommodation 42 km from Thirlwall Castle and 17 km from Carlisle Railway Station. There's nothing not to like ☺️. Chris and Tony are lovely and great hosts , full of knowledge from gretna in the war to the best places to visit and eat. The guest house was spotlessly clean , comfortable and Chris's breakfast was fabulous. The train station was an added bonus , it made it easy to enjoy an evening in Carlisle with the family. There's private parking , lovely walks and it's close to our Scottish family, so we'll definitely be staying again . Just like being at home ❤️

Such great location, really quiet, beautiful room with everything we needed, lovely homemade shortbread biscuits, great breakfast and Jo so nice and welcoming. Perfect place to stay after or before ferry crossing and will stay there any time we travel.

The town centre is a 5 minute walk away. We would love to come back. Whenever you are in Dumfries, stay there!

Boasting a garden and views of garden, Moffat Independent Hostel is a guest house set in a historic building in Moffat, 34 km from Dumfries and County Golf Club. A lovely home feeling in this hostel. From the initial warm meeting from the owner (thank you) until leaving I felt very relaxed. I used the twin room on this trip and found it spacious and very comfortable. The communal areas are well spaced out and the kitchen well equipped. Plenty of seating in the dining room area to enjoy meal/breakfast without cluttering the kitchen. Parking , bike areas and drying areas available. On edge of a lovely town within a 15min walk ... this is an excellent decision to stay.

Situated in Stranraer, in a historic building, 700 metres from Stranraer Beach, Thornbank House is a guest house with a fitness centre and indoor pool. We liked everything about this place it was five star Fiona is a great host and she couldn't do enough for us
