The location is amazing. As soon as you step in the lobby, the fragrance and the vibrant ambiance of the hotel captures you. The staff is incredibly helpful. They answer your questions even before you arrive. When we were there, they helped out with most of the restaurant choices and excursion reservations. The outdoor dining area of Barcelo Funchal Oldtown is also the host to a live street concert on most of the lunch times. Around the corner, you can taste the best gelato on the island. If you go on a private cab tour around the island, make sure to ask for “Chico the driver” as your personal tour guide and yellow cab driver who speaks more than 3 languages and takes you around the history and contemporary status of the island through his vast knowledge. We will definitely book Barcelo Funchal Oldtown for our next visit to Madeira.

Excellent location, accessibility from the airport bus transfer is perfect (2 min walk) Lovely welcome from Pedro and all the helpful information he gave us about the area was much appreciated. Great team at the roof top bar and excellent cocktails. Housekeeping standards were incredible, every day the room was spotless. Room was a fantastic size for two people sharing. Plenty sockets throughout the room Brilliant high pressured shower WiFi connected automatically when we re entered the building.

Set within tropical gardens on Madeira Island, this charming guesthouse features far-reaching sea views and 2 outdoor seawater pools, one of which is heated in winter period. Fantastic location, ideally kitted out. Received a very warm reception, escorted to the local restaurant and offered free drink. Thanks, I'll be back ☺️

Hotel Catedral offers elegantly decorated rooms in Funchal’s city centre. It features panoramic views of the area. It also offers free WiFi, as well as free parking. We stayed over Easter weekend, and it was just perfect. Great room, spacious & bright, comfy bed with fresh crisp bed linen, modern decor, nice clean bathroom with toiletries & plentiful towels. Super buffet breakfast. Location was perfect, right in the centre. We stayed a couple of nights and would've stayed at the end of our holiday too, but it was fully booked, unfortunately. We would definitely stay there again.if
