The friendliness of the host family was amazing! They were very warm, constantly took care that I had all the necessities and showed me the best spots on the island; even helped me with the bike renting and the drive back to the airport! The room was also very clean and equipped with the essentials.

Offering a garden and city view, Happy Island Miyako is situated in Miyako Island, 1.8 km from Painagama Beach and 3.4 km from Turiba Seaside Park. Nice staff and a very warm-hearted owner who is eager to help the guests. Open-air rooftop where you can feel the cool breeze. Offer everything with kitchen and bathroom stuff. Just bring your towel and a happy attitude. I took the buses from the beach to the other beach. I didn't bring an International driver's license, so no car for me. I could rent an electric bike, but I would rather sit on the air-conditioning buses. All the beaches in Miyako Jima are good, so taking buses close to any beach was not a problem. And this hostel is very close to the bus stop which goes to the airport also. Google map bus schedule is up to date, so you can trust that and just give and take 5-7min. I will miss this place for sure. I attached the food photo which the owner cooked for the guest that he caught on that day and the beach is 25 min walk from the hostel.

Featuring a garden, terrace and views of garden, Guesthouse Koa is located in Miyako Island, 700 metres from Sunayama Beach. This 2-star guest house offers a shared kitchen and luggage storage space. This was a fantastic stay in a guesthouse, with very friendly hosts - especially Atsushi-san and Pao-san! It's very welcoming and well fitted out, with plenty of advice for what to do and where to go on the island. A bonus was freshly roasted coffee every morning by Atsushi-san. They have a lovely island dog, Iru-chan, who quickly made friends with us after some scratches, 10/10 good boy. We also went on the snorkelling tour of Yabiji, which was a great half day out with some fantastic pictures and all round fun.

Located in Miyako Island and only 400 metres from Imgya Marine Garden, Private Resort Hotel RENN provides accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. Renn san was super friendly, he provided valuable inputs for our snorkeling plans. I wish we stayed there 1-2 more nights to fully utilize his inputs! XD The facility has a great view of the night sky, if you happen to catch a good cloud-less weather while you are there, you would be able to enjoy a good view of the Milky Way!

Sony and his wife were very gracious hosts and have done a great job at cultivating a true sense of community among guests and staff. The snorkeling trip was a lot of fun as were the dinners and drinks in the evening.

Situated just 2.3 km from Sunayama Beach, 宮古島 Guesthouse Re-Spect features accommodation in Miyako Island with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. This place is super clean and everything is properly labeled for foreigners. Host is super helpful and kind! Location is about 20 mins from the city/downtown area so if you are looking for a place to stay with calm vibe, this place is a must :) I also recommend renting a car although there are buses/taxis available.

宮古島ゲストハウス cocoikoi has air-conditioned guest accommodation in Miyako Island, 2.9 km from Turiba Seaside Park, 5.6 km from Irabu Bridge and 8.4 km from Irabu Ohashi Kaitsu Monument. The owner offered a big basin to clean my diving equipment and a huge space to dry up my diving equipment. Thanks so much.

Located in Miyako Island, Minnkayado intoparitosura is a renovated traditional okinawan building with a garden, terrace, shared lounge, and free WiFi. The host is super friendly and open. You can sit on the balcony and enjoy the sunset. Very calm, rural atmosphere away from the resort hotels and beach selfie instagrammers. But a small and very beautiful beach is within walking distance, and another where you can snorkel and see sea turtles is a few kilometers away.
