Royal Oak Guesthouse, a property with a shared lounge, is situated in Orkney, 2.2 km from Scapa Beach, 17 km from Maeshowe, as well as 19 km from Standing Stones of Stenness. The location was good. The food was excellent. The rooms were comfortable. There was a lounge with games, sofas, and a large TV, but we were too busy to take advantage of it. Eric, the host, was very friendly and accommodating. He got us everything we asked for. The water was very soft, so only a small amount of soap or shampoo was needed. It didn't feel like we were intruding in someone's home. It felt more like a mini hotel with a fair amount of privacy for coming and going. Also, we had a ground floor room where we didn't have to drag suitcases up, which is hard being older adults. The stay was very enjoyable.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay with Laura and Brian immensely. There we cookies, pastries, tea and coffee really available upon arrival and throughout our entire stay. For the self catered breakfast, there were lots of hot/cold cereals, breads, pastries (gluten-free options), juices, yogurts, local cheeses, and all the fixings. Each morning, Laura had scones or some other baked good heating in the oven. Heating your own food for dinner or eating take out was an option, too, which we took advantage of one evening. Our room was very beautiful, modern, and cozy with a very comfortable bed. The whole place was spotless. Laura suggested restaurants and places of interest off the beaten path. She was a gracious, thoughtful, wonderful host - some of the best hospitality on our month long trip! Thanks for everything, Laura. We loved our stay with you. Highly recommend.

Situated in Stromness, 8.5 km from Standing Stones of Stenness and 9.3 km from Maeshowe, Forty Five, John Street, Stromness, features accommodation with free WiFi in a historic building. Neil and Kay treat you like family. They are kind, and generous (loaned us high vis jackets for our bike rides), sewing items to repair my slippers, and are excellent cooks. Breakfast was generous and very tasty. Local fish, fresh fruit, eggs, toast and preserves. Bed was perfect. So comfortable. Perfect location down near the pier.

Boasting a private beach area and views of sea, Waterfront House is a guest house set in a historic building in Finstown, 5.7 km from Maeshowe. exquisite, what a beautifully decorated guest house , Kim and Amar have thought of everything, the attention to detail was evident in every way from the tv over the spar to the lighting in all the rooms , the views were beautiful and mesmerising, Kim greeted us and explained breakfast was not included however they had provided cereal , fruit , bread and accompaniments along with a fridge full of complimentary drinks and snacks , the bed was comfortable and the shower amazing , this property deserves much more than a ten out of ten. Location is central, we were literally 10-20 minutes from all major sites.

Heatherlea is set in Kirkwall, 16 km from Maeshowe, 18 km from Standing Stones of Stenness, and 19 km from Ring of Brogdar. Probably one of the best B&Bs I have ever stayed in. The room was spacious, the bed was soft and comfortable, and the owner prepared us a packed breakfast because we had an early boat. Next time in Kirkwall that's where I'll book again!

Situated in Twatt and only 13 km from Ring of Brogdar, Runa Guest House features accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. I enjoyed my stay at the Runa Guest house very much. The owner is a knowledgeable tour guide on the Island, so he could answer any questions and had lots of excellent suggestions that enhanced my visit. The suite was clean and comfortable. The little kitchen was stocked with breakfast items. There is even a washing machine and dryer available for use. I highly recommend.

Set in Kirkwall, 15 km from Maeshowe, Castaway Guesthouse offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. A lovely place where we could sleep and shower. And then go explore this lovely island.
