The location, lovely sea views and great sunsets. Quiet, uncrowded with easy access to many and varied eateries a short walk away. Tram stop across the road which was most convenient. The host Mick was always available if needed plus the mansions had a reception. The apartments were luxurious with tv in each room, jacuzzi bath, great sun room and an enclosed private sun area with loungers. The beds were super comfy. The living/ kitchen area high end fittings, light and airy with decor sympathetic to the Deco building. Fabulous.
Excellent location - on the lake and close to the village of Grasmere. Exceptionally friendly staff - all staff from waitresses, cleaners, bar staff and receptionists were so friendly and welcoming. The hotel had a real feeing of luxury. Just a lovely hotel.
Loved everything, we have just got home from a holiday there and re booked for later this month. The Villas are perfect for 2 couples and a child. Washing machines, dishwasher, sea views, patio set, absolutely perfect O and the pool, sauna steam etc. can’t wait to get back. Loved the jazz band and the quiz, staff all exceptional
Amazing lodge, great location to explore the area. Also a very nice place to eat inside the holiday village.
The bedroom was luxurious as described, luxury retreat, as was the bathroom's underfloor heating. We liked the well stocked fridge, also the tea, ground coffee, sweets and particularly the fudge The bowl of fruit and fresh flowers were a nice touch. It was very peaceful.
Very impressive accommodation. As a couple we’ve stayed in everything from a tent in the Andes, tenner a night rooms in Vietnam to luxury accommodation with private pools in expensive beachfront locales. Now having two young children our requirements for stays have changed, and Strides Barn was perfect. It would easily suit a group of 6 adults as well. Beautiful building and clean, it’s the perfect getaway location to explore the surrounding area of the new forest and Salisbury. It was so good we extended our stay by one night.
Luxurious and comfortable room. The estate itself is also so beautiful and tranquil. Being so close to the motorway, you'd never know! Staff extremely welcoming and helpful, very pleasant! Would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing for a peaceful luxury retreat.
Incredible staff, grounds, comfort and luxury without airs and graces or snobbery that you find in some hotels. It's like going to a home from home (if your home was a grand mansion with staff) and they fall over themselves to pamper you and make you feel special. It's a real gem. Unpretentious, no influencers, cosy but extremely luxurious at the same time. Special mention to Lena in the reception, Richard in the lounge, and Wieskewa (so sorry if this is spelt wrong) who served us at breakfast and told us how much she loved the ducks.
