Breakfast was a delight, and we really enjoyed special touches like the hot drinks and snacks available in the downstairs area, and fresh flowers in the room every day. Access to the bath house over the road was a real highlight.

The breakfast was excellent, the room was a traditional Japanese decor and very comfortable. Craig and Helen were amazing hosts. Craig was kind enough to help with dinner reservations which was a big plus.

Offering a garden and inner courtyard view, 祇園の宿 杏花 is located in Kyoto, 300 metres from Gion Shijo Station and 600 metres from Samurai Kembu Kyoto. Its a beautiful traditional hotel, the building is very traditional and you get the full experience. I’ll definitely recommend it

Nazuna Kyoto Tsubaki St. Provides accommodation located 600 metres from the centre of Kyoto and offers an open-air bath and a shared lounge. The hotel is a haven in the middle of Kyoto. The staff was extremely friendly (special mention for a charming Japanese young lady who had studied in Spain, and having learned that one of our sons liked Real Madrid, went our of her way to print tickets, the typical fan song, etc and deliver it to his room the next day), all perfectly fluent in English. The breakfast was delicious (choice between Japanese or Western-style), served in a private room for our family. The rooms come look like traditional ryokan but with modern equipment, including private outside hot baths, shower, etc. Definitely recommend!

I loved this property, everything was so nice, clean, and modern, while still keeping the traditional vibe of Kyoto. I can’t recommend enough this place. The girls at the reception were so nice and helped us with everything that we needed. We even got a bottle of wine as a gift for our honeymoon. I will definitely choose this place again next time. I know it is on the pricy side, but the value you get is simply amazing. You will not be disappointed.

In the Sakyo Ward district of Kyoto, close to Heian Shrine, 明和荘Mei Wa Inn features a garden and a washing machine. The hosts are very kind and caring, I would definitely choose them again. It was a pleasure to be there
