Located just 2.5 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Morinouta offers accommodation in Nikko with access to a garden, a terrace, as well as luggage storage space. Cute family run bed and breakfast. The mother and son duo (I believe) are professional and so caring. I ordered their Tochigi wagyu steak for dinner and it was one of the best meals I had in Japan. Incredible marbling of the steak and the complimenting dishes were amazing. The breakfast was also amazing and they even gave me a snack pack before I left. Amazing hospitable hosts that I would recommend for anyone. There are two private onsens available 24/7 on site too. Tobu bus stop right across the street for easy access.

Providing lake views and a garden, Chuzenji Pension offers accommodation in a prime location in Nikko, within a short distance of Kegon Falls, Chuzenji Lake and Chuzenji Temple. The owner gave us a syperb room with lake view. The meals are so delicious and the staffs are so welcoming.

Set in Takasaki, 28 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park, Ryutakuzenji 宿坊 offers accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a garden and a bar. We had a great time staying at Ryutakuzenji! The owner is very friendly and welcoming and provided a lot of great insights to the history of the property. This was definitely the most unique stay we had in Japan and I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you Mr. Tendou!

Situated in Kusatsu, 45 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park and 14 km from Mt. Kusatsu Shirane, Kusatsu Hotel Bekkan Wata no Yu (Adult Only) offers air conditioning. I stayed for 3 nights and it was a wonderful experience! perfect location right by the geo-thermal park and quick walk to two most prominent onsen facilities. Modern spacious rooms and a lovely onsen on-site. But most importantly there is Miki who runs the place – an amazing host who has made my stay very special. Set just 36 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort, Minakamisansou features accommodation in Minakami with access to an open-air bath, a shared lounge, as well as a lift. Breakfast and dinner was superb. The experience and the food was wonderful. The room was comfortable, especially with the private onsen bath. Everything was really clean. Some staffs spoke english, which was a good bonus. There was a shuttle service, which was really appreciated. The communication was perfect.

The place was really beautiful: the perfect place to relax. Also the staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious...I think it is the best stay I've had in Japan so far and definitely the best in kusatsu (my 3rd time there)

Set 36 km from Ishidan-gai Steps, Sekizenkan Kashotei Sanso offers 4-star accommodation in Nakanojo and has an open-air bath. We came late due to traffic congestion. They still waited us for the dinner at 8:30pm.
