Gunjo no Tsuki, hotel in Kanazawa

Offering a garden and garden view, Gunjo no Tsuki is located in Kanazawa, 1.8 km from Kanazawa Castle and 1.7 km from Kenrokuen Garden.

A truly wonderful experience staying at this Gunjo no Tsuki. It was modern, extremely clean and tastefully done. The bath tub was operated by a touch of the button and it fills by itself. There was ample room to move around for a family of 4 and it can easily accommodate another 2 more. The owner was really helpful as well. He was just a call away since he stayed nearby and was prompt in giving us suggestions and directions! My family really loved this house and would come back again if we came back to Kanazawa!

Yuyaruru Saisai, hotel in Kanazawa

Offering views of the Sai River, Yuyaruru Saisai’s spacious Japanese-style rooms have an LCD TV and a private bath.

The room was awesome, being more of an apartment than a room, actually. Comfy beds, nice tatami floors, good wifi, a regular nice bathroom _and_ a japanese outdoor bathroom. The included breakfast was good too. It was worth the price.

Murataya, hotel in Kanazawa

Murataya is 2 km from JR Kanazawa Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Kenroku-en Garden. The traditional Japanese accommodation offers a public bath and free Wi-Fi access.

Traditional ryokan tucked away down a side street nearby a main shopping open air mall. The owners were so welcoming and helpful, great with English and my bad Japanese. We had traditional breakfasts which I thought were amazing but were a bit much for the kids.

Yamanoo, hotel in Kanazawa

Featuring 3-star accommodation, Yamanoo is situated in Kanazawa, 1.7 km from Kenrokuen Garden and 2.9 km from Kanazawa Station.

Our stay at Yamanoo Ryokan in Kanazawa was nothing short of enchanting. Tucked away above the historic Higashi Old Town, this ryokan offers a rare blend of tradition and tranquillity. The private onsen, overlooking the timeless streets below, provided a uniquely serene and rejuvenating escape—an experience we’ll cherish. From our arrival, the hosts treated us like family, with a level of warmth and attentiveness that truly set the tone for our visit. The room was thoughtfully designed, merging classic Japanese elegance with modern comforts, making it a perfect retreat. But the real highlight was the kaiseki dining experience—each dish was a miniature work of art, reflecting the seasons and embodying local flavours in a way that was both beautifully authentic and innovative. The breakfast was equally exceptional, each course balancing subtlety with deliciousness. Every moment at Yamanoo was thoughtfully curated, from the gracious hospitality to the pristine facilities, making it a place we’d wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking to immerse themselves in Kanazawa’s rich heritage with a touch of luxury. This ryokan is not just a place to stay; it’s an experience that resonates long after you’ve left.

Sumiyoshiya, hotel in Kanazawa

Offering free Wi-Fi and free-use bicycles and in-room Japanese meals, Sumiyoshiya is a traditional Japanese-style hotel. It features a garden, hot public baths and coin-operated laundry facilities.

I’m not one to normally write a review but my stay here has been excellent. The staff were lovely and spoke decent English, I also arrived drenched and she quickly invited me in and led me to my room to blast the heater. She also aired out my shoes while I was chilling in my bed which was much appreciated after walking around in them for the past 3 weeks. Great overall experience I’d say.

Truly a unique authentic traditional Japanese experience with tatami and garden. The host was extremely helpful despite speaking no English. While the place was out of the way from the main city of Kanazawa, the trade off was a quiet suburban neighbourhood of Japan, very close to a supermarket and an amazing sushi restaurant called Nishikawaya we had 12 freshly made nigiri for a very reasonable price.

Their onsen was undergoing renovations and so they kindly let people use the private onsen for free for 40 minutes. It was quite small but very pleasant. Very quiet and lovely mountain area, beautiful autumn leaves.

We really loved our stay at Hotel Roan! The service was excellent, staff were so helpful and recommended activities for us to do in the area. The onsen is currently not active but the private bath is lovely, a stone pool in an outdoor setting, you can relax after skiing while watching the snow fall. Food was excellent using produce from the area - wild boar, tofu, trout.
