We traveled to Mafia Island specifically to see the whale sharks. We went out the first day with a highly rated local tour company and did not see any whale sharks which was unusual. The next day we decided to go out with Hassan, the manager at Maisara Mafia Beach Lodge. Hassan was determined and we did in fact see whale sharks!! Hassan took such good care of us. I was so happy to see the whale sharks but I was getting tired after a few swims so I was content to stay in the boat and let my family continue swimming. After resting a bit, Hassan jumped in to see if it was a good view for me. He came back to the boat and let me know it was a great view if I was up to swimming again. I jumped back in and had the very best time! I cannot say enough good things about Hassan and everyone at the Lodge. They are all so kind and helpful. I also highly recommend the massages at Maisara Mafia Beach Lodge. Thank you Hassan and everyone at the Lodge.

Restaurant is delicious and the atmosphere in the garden under the stars is simply amazing. This place is a must if in Mafia. The room is also comfortable, mosquitoes free and clean. Hassan also organize and suggest great tours with selected guides. You can completely rely on him and his staff

Mafia Island Bungalows ligger 6,1 km från Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve och erbjuder boende med en trädgård, en terrass och ett gemensamt kök. The bungalows are very cozy, super clean and the staff is extremely friendly 👌👍 The owner took us on a day trip with snorkeling and diving and had a lot of tips for us. He joined us for lunch and dinner and had an answer to all of our questions regarding whale sharks, diving, beaches etc. 100% recommendation !

The staff are great, making sure we had the best time there. They helped organise trips out around the island putting us at ease. The rooms are spacious with WiFi and air con. The food was good too.

The room and bathroom look exactly like in the pictures - very spacious and clean. Bunda is very kind and friendly. He prepared a very fresh and abundant breakfast for us every morning at the time we agreed upon. One day he accompanied us to the beach. The beach, airport, and city center are very close, easily and safely accessible on foot, as well as by tuk-tuk or boda-boda. Ali - the owner is also very nice and honest. He responded to all our requests very promptly. He advised us not to book the whale sharks tour until someone assures us that they have been seen the previous day.
