The breakfast is nothing short of magnificent! In addition to the option of having toast with jam, fried or omelette eggs, and pancakes, every day a different fresh fruit juice is provided, along with the opportunity to taste a local dish for an authentic Myanmar breakfast experience! The lady managing the property speaks good English and is super helpful in organizing boat trips, visits to the Red Mountain vineyards, and bus reservations. Some bicycles are always available free of charge to explore the area comfortably. Upon arrival, the lady and her family (all super super super kind!) provide a useful map of the area with many helpful tips, including where to go for dinner with local food. Without a doubt, the best accommodation of my trip to Myanmar, I was really sorry to have to leave this beautiful hotel. And if I ever manage to return to Inle Lake, I already know where to stay because I hope so much to meet this spectacular family again!

Song of Travel Hostel is located in Nyaung Shwe, 0.6 mi from Mingala Market and 5 minutes' walk from Nyaung Shwe Bus Station. It features a rooftop lounging area where guests can enjoy cocktails. I loved being treated like family at SOT - from the messages I exchanged with Fiona the owner, to the care and help to book bus tickets, a boat trip and a private driver to the hotpools and Kalaw. Shwe the manager is super friendly and helpful, along with the whole staff there. The food was great, alot of Korean meals. I must have eaten half my meals there! I also ate local breakfasts thanks to Shwe, which I loved. My dorm bed was super clean and spacious - bathrooms are clean and plentiful. Love the rooftop which catches beautiful sunrises and sunsets, cool breezes and great views. Free bikes allowed me to roam Nyaung Shwe easily. There's the Red Mountain winery nearby, which has great views and a stunning sunset. Jesu ba for a wonderful first time visit to Inle! I will be back in July with my son and 2 friends!

Inle Lake is a spectacular reserve full of sights, sounds and smells to appeal to the senses. Daily trips on your private boat around the lakes will take you to markets, temples, bamboo villages and farms built over the water. I cannot recommend this place highly enough or soon enough before McDonalds, Burger King and Starbucks arrive to ruin it all. There are no American chain hotels or food stores of any kind and that makes Inle Lake special. You will eat authentic Burmese food and meet the most friendly beautiful people. Do not let your boat drivers take you to the tourist places for lunch, there are so many small local restaurants to chose from. For an unforgettable experience try the Green Chilli restaurant in the Bamboo Village.
Our visit to Inle Lake was my favorite stop in our trip to Myanmar. The day we spent exploring the lake by boat will be one of the most special of my life. The cool morning breeze with the cloudless, sunny skies was the perfect backdrop to the amazing floating towns and temples we visited. It was a bit like stepping into the pages of a National Geographic, especially when we visited the "Long Neck Ladies".
Inle lake is just one of a kind. Hope that it can sustain the rapidly increasing stream of tourists without its environmental values getting destroyed.
The natural beauty of Inle Lake is overwhelming. The fishermen, the villages on stilts, the markets, temples, birds, surrounding mountains, all make this an unforgettable experience. Recommend full day boat tours, and mountain walks. Our 20 km walk into the mountains above the town was led by excellent local guides found through the Thu Thu travel agency on Yongyi Road. The walk was outstanding and included a lunch at a local mountain village (the guides took care to maintain high sanitation standards and made a great filling lunch). We took a bike ride half way around the lake, then boated across for 5,000 each person with the bike included (10,000 total). Then continued our trip back into Nyaung Shwe but first we had an excellent lunch at the Bamboo Hut restaurant a short distance from the main road. Very much worth the stop for its food, price, and pretty open facilities.
Less tourist during low season, mainly locals. Do not go to Inle Lake to see the Hayai womens as there are only 1 or 2 in the store and they don't earn much from selling the handmade scarf. Scarf will very pricey around 18,000-25,000kyat.
We have full day follow the Inle Lake, you should come Indein which takes 2 hours to get in by boat and hiking, but it's worth it. The weather is great and cooler than any place in Myanmar we arrived. We ate at Sin Yaw Restaurant - good food and friendly staff. Second day, we go to Pinyada Caves, beautiful road.
My experience is a bit skewed... I arrived to Inle Lake just in time for the annual water festival. From the hours of 10am - 6pm (sunset) you could not go out on the streets without being soaked to the bone with water. The locals love it, I loved it, but some tourist felt trapped inside their hotel with the fear of getting "too wet". I loved the first 2 days of the festival, but my excitement dwindled through the end of the week only due to a storm system that came over the town and rained out most of the other days. It just made for really cold walks to the mini mart and back. The surrounding area is beautiful, there are a few gems among the slew of restuarants, and go on a bike tour/ boat tour.
The town is a good starting point for boat trips on Inle lake when you prefer to have a not to expensive hotel. And you can explore the surrounding and some nice sites on a bike. Town itself is not that interesting. Some nice restaurants with cooking class possibilities (sunflower restaurant had the best beef curry).
Nothing much to do in town. A good location for wonderful day tours around Inle Lake. The town itself is not very pleasant but. Still, a perfect place as a base for tours in the area.
We loved this place!!! Our day hike with tharo inle lake (find on Facebook) was a highlight of our trip. So interesting and informative, he is a funny fantastic guy with very good English. Boating on the lake and a great atmosphere all round

This was probably my favourite stay in Myanmar. Everything about it was perfect and we didn't want to leave. The family were amazing and so accommodating. We had dinner here every night and it was always a massive treat. The mother is a fabulous cook! They can arrange boat tours and taxis for you. Our favourite part was sitting on the balcony and enjoying the peace and quiet; the best location in Inle Lake. We will definitely be back here and miss it already!
Nyaungshwe Township
This became my favourite place in Myanmar - the hosts were very nice, hospitable and helpful in every situation we faced. We had a huge home-made breakfast every morning! The bungalows.were spacious with all the amenities for a good stay. Extremely clean! The terrace and the garden were peaceful and pleasant for late afternoon rest 😊 I could definitely recommend Trinity Family Inn for everyone who is looking for a warm home environment in Inle lake!
It was a very unusual situation where we got stuck in flood. The owner Nway Nway went above and beyond to make sure that my 9 month old kid and I were safe and cared for. I’ll never forget her hospitality and kindness. The ground floor of the hotel is now damaged and I really wish and pray Nway Nway overcomes the situation and tourists come and boom the economy at Inle Lake.
