The property was beautifully situated by the river, offering a serene and picturesque environment. The tented accommodation provided a unique, close-to-nature experience, while still being comfortable and well-furnished. The pool area was perfect for relaxing, especially in the evenings, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive.

One of the best stays in Sri Lanka. We got very spacious room - the whole challet just for us. It was very nice there. The swimming pool was just amazing. Everything is new and clean and the staff was super nice. They drove us from Ella for half of the price we were offered in Ella. The hotel is close to the national park, you can agree on the safari trip directly in the hotel and they come for you. They also arranged for us a taxi to Mirrisa and managed to rent a bigger car to travel with other travellers for lower price for us. The dinner was sri lankan average, but very big (three courses menu).

We loved everything about this hotel!! New spacious room with modern bathroom and lovely private patio; excellent pool to cool off after morning safari or before evening one; very friendly and helpful manager who was always smiling and sharing info about elephants with us over meals; very good food (really liked the rice and curry!) which we weren’t necessarily expecting from a hotel restaurant. And the best part: seeing elephants across the road in park during breakfast l!! Side note: be careful about where you book in this area. The hotel we originally booked canceled on us day of when they found out we’d booked a safari through someone else (not them). We were lucky to find this current hotel who said it was our decision to book safari with them or not (although I’m sure their safaris are good too!).

The bungalows are modern and have everything you could need. The balcony is amazing with a view on the river and all the animals passing through. The staff were very friendly and spoke amazing english. The food was great and the price was fair. The highlight for us was the safari that the hotel organised. We went on a 7h safari and saw everything we could have possibly wanted to see. 50 elephants, jackals, deer, birds, lizards, water monitors, buffaloes, crocodiles,… They also provided breakfast in the park which was magical. Our driver was super knowledgeable and clearly passionate about animals. Truly amazing.

Offering a restaurant, Hotel Gayan's provides free WiFi access in its public areas. The Udawalawa National Park entrance is just a minute drive away. Everything! Gayan is a lovely host who went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable, going above and beyond to drive us 20/30 mins to town to get cash out and then stepping in to drive us to Mirissa when the cab couldn’t make it. Incredible service. The safari was great and our guide was really insightful. The food is absolutely amazing, the staff cooked the best meal we had on our trip. 10/10 recommend this place for all going to Udawalawe.
