The owners and staff were warm and friendly, our room was large, comfortable and well-appointed. Breakfasts and dinners were delicious. Our four night stay was the highlight of our two week visit to Scotland.

The Westings is set in Tingwall. The hotel offers both free WiFi and free private parking. The units in the hotel are fitted with a coffee machine. This was such a fantastic place to stay while we were in Shetland for Wool Week. David, our host, was extremely attentive and made sure we were right at home, showing us the place, asking what time was best for breakfast, and ensuring that the other guests (builders) were quiet while we were there. It is about 10 or 15 minutes outside Lerwick and the views were just absolutely stunning.

St Magnus Bay Hotel ligger midt i Shetland, i vakre og rolige omgivelser, og ble tidligere besøkt av poeten WH Auden og dramatikeren Christopher Isherwood. Flotte omgivelser med godt utgangspunkt for turer.

Busta House, som har utsikt over kysten av Busta Voe på Shetlands fastland, er en nydelig gammel bygning. Den tilbyr rom med eget bad, en stor hage og ypperlig lokal mat. Really comfortable, lovely surroundings and great food.

Scalloway Hotel is situated in Scalloway and features a bar. There is a barbecue and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. As far as I am concerned the Scalloway is the best place to stay while in Shetland.

It is perfectly situated. This grand beautiful historic building is being renovated by the present owners. I had a room with a sea view which was magnificent. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. I loved the towel warmer and excellent water pressure in the shower. The staff were amazing. Sam, the owner’s son, went above the call of duty to provide towels and vacuum the sand I tracked into the room. Harvey, the owner, was fantastic! He even gave me a ride to the bus station. If you are interested in historic preservation this is the hotel for you. It sits actually into the sea next to Bain’s Beach. I had a fabulous week at the Queens Hotel.

My room (324) was just the right size, en suite and located in a quiet wing. The furnishings and whole vibe of the place is Boho/shabby chic. I mean this in a good way. The ambience is laidback, friendly, uncomplicated. One could be extremely picky about some flaws and details in the decor or upkeep of the place, but it was clean, comfortable and not only nice staff but nice clientele as well. I would have stayed there on my return trip, but had private arrangements instead. However, I would definitely go back. The girls serving in the bar, the kind man who made generous breakfasts, and particularly Harvey the owner, were all lovely people. The hotel‘s in a great central location, there are cheaper places to stay, but none with the same vibes or funkiness.
