The property had very good practical utility — ample parking space, great secluded location surrounded by its own garden, comfortable rooms, well-designed spacious bathrooms. The property also certainly had its own personality - a common lounge space with a cosy fireplace and big leather sofas where we met and chatted with some other guests; a dining room with large windows, as well as another dining room that allowed pet dogs, and very welcoming staff hosting us. Felt like a cosy retreat!

The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the outstanding food. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, leaving us craving for more. The attention to detail and quality of ingredients truly impressed us. The comfort of the beds was exceptional, allowing us to get a good night's sleep. Upon entering our room, we were greeted with beautiful classical music playing softly in the background, creating a soothing and relaxing environment. Unfortunately, we arrived with the flu and had to cancel our pre-booked dinner at the resident restaurant. However, the staff at Newhall Mains were incredibly understanding and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They prepared a delicious onion soup for us to enjoy in our rooms, along with a comforting Hot Toddy to help us feel better. Their thoughtfulness and care made a significant difference in our overall experience. We are already looking forward to returning to Newhall Mains in the future. It is a place that truly exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable stay.

Newtonmore
Great, cozy and comfortable accommodation. Family run business with great Highlands hospitality. The guest house is from 19th centuries but it was renovated and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was fabulous, tasty with a high end menu and generous serves. Offering a full Scottish breakfast was an absolute bonus. It was amazing to be able to try such a cultural food in country town. Glen Hotel 100m away offers gourmet meals at pub prices. We were 2 families and we all loved our stay. Wish we could score more.
The National hotel was a great find! It was off the beaten path. We had two rooms, the suite was awesome, a fabulous shower and bathroom, very comfortable and clean bed, nice view from the windows. The second room was 3 twins, perfect for our 3 teenagers. Hotel has a great hot, fresh breakfast, bar and a banquet room for parties. We were there for 2 nights while exploring the Scottish Highlands. Would definitely like to come back one day. This place is up and coming, great staff who are dedicated to your comfort.
Inverness
Genuinely the nicest holiday let we've stayed in. A very comfortable apartment in a great location. Rachel left us a small stock of kitchen staples and there was plenty of equipment for us to prepare meals easily. We spent a fair bit of time in the evenings in the apartment cooking dinner and playing board games and we were all comfortable. A real home away from home - the place felt very welcoming and was a perfect base for us to explore Inverness, Loch Ness and further afield in the Highlands.
Fort Augustus
Affordable apartment in Hogwarts-style resort; the amenities are wonderful for families with an indoor swimming pool (must pre-book a time), ping-pong, billiards, board games etc and the ability for archery, ax-throwing and knife-throwing right on Loch Ness. The apartment gave us the option to cook our own meals after driving long distances and eating out during our 10-day trip. It is a great launching site to other places in the Highlands and our family really enjoyed it!
During a trip to the highlands we decided to stay a night at Aviemore. The apartment we got has a wonderful price and was excellent. It was very well equipped with a large kitchen and living area. It had a separate bedroom. Everything was very clean and conformt and we were very satisfied. It was the best value for money in our entire trip and while we did not pay a lot we were more happy compared to other places who charged more money.
We were diverted here when a storm downed power lines across the highlands and our original hotel was not available. They called to tell us, and I was very grateful for their help. The staff continued this helpful and friendly approach, giving great advice on local attractions, when we reached the hotel. The Hotel itself was a very attractive building, great location, great breakfast, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable.
The Balavil Hotel was amazing! Our room was so big recent refurbished but still had the traditional Scottish feel in line with the rest of the building itself, with all the amenities you could ask for. Staff were very friendly and attentive especially James! The food at the restaurant was top notch and same goes for the breakfast that was included! Great all around, will be staying here again on our next trip to the Highlands!
Spean Bridge
Paul is a very friendly host. We stayed at the River View Apartment which was extremely spacious, very clean and had everything you could possibly need for a great stay. It was very homely and our children loved it. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans - and even Tupperware for picnics! Would loved to have stayed longer if there had been availability. A really good location to explore the Highlands and Cairngorms.
great location good value SWIMMING pool in the highlands n Scotland - if you are from the US or molly coddled you may discount this valuable offering efficient courteous staff and bonus the view from our spacious room - no obstruction - a meadow with sheep, rabbits , cows, seagulls a beautiful verdant pastiche one con: the hotel could benefit from a refresh of furnishings and decor
Inverness
My mom and I stayed one night in Inverness as we did a tour of the Jacobite and the highlands. We had a private bath and room. The room was comfortable, and the bed was BIG. It was clean as well. The staff was SUPER NICE. It is SUPER close to the train station and the market across the street. Inverness is a beautiful, small town. 7/10 hotel. (Also across pubs)
This hotel and Inverness/Highlands were the highlights of our trip! Extremely friendly staff. Excellent food at the restaurant for dinner. Decent buffet breakfast also. Handy to have the distillery/bar right there. Beautiful views of the River Ness. Free parking on site. Overall, loved our few nights here on our honeymoon UK trip :)
Fort William
Very nice decor and well appointed apartment. Owner was attentive and communicated well. Everything we needed was there. Parking (as per the instructions provided) was perfect and convenient. Stocked up at M&S food hall 0.5 miles walk. Walking tour of Fort William town centre with its excellent Highlands Mueseum was 0.8 miles away.
Free breakfast was delicious and made to order each day. Hotel restaurant served amazing food. Rooms were large. Staff was nice. Location was great: it’s a small town with grocery store and restaurants a minute walk away. Great jumping off point for exploring the Scottish Highlands.
We were in a newer garden room which was large and had a patio. Car parking was very close to the room. Conveniently located for golf, the steam railway and views over the Highlands. Excellent restaurant called Anderson's just up the road. Hotel restaurant average
Everything Loch Shiel Hotel had to offer was perfect for our visit to this area. The proprietors couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. It really is the perfect place to stay to enjoy the Highlands and to be able to relax and take in the rich culture they have to offer.
An elegant and old hotel with a lovely parlor that one can enjoy all day. The hotel restaurant was fine with friendly and helpful staff. Best of all was the full breakfast buffet and the mussels at dinner. A convenient stop on the way to or from the highlands.
The Highlands Hotel was perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hotel staff were very nice , room was huge and comfy. Food was delicious. The grounds are stunning and we saw alot of wildlife too. Its walking distance to main town. Also we loved the cinema on site!
Fort Augustus
Chris and Felicity were extremely welcoming and helpful. The apartment was exceptional and a credit to them. Fort Augustus is the perfect base to explore the Highlands and the apartment was the perfect base in Fort Augustus! Would recommend without hesitation.
Fabulous location, property and staff. We traveled with our two school-aged children and this well-appointed apartment was absolutely perfect. Very convenient to the major sights in the Highlands. And the historic abbey is unforgettable.
Drumnadrochit
Great central location to get almost anywhere in the highlands with ease. Great little quiet town to stay with everything you need. Apartment would be comfortable if it was only 2-4 people. Easy parking. Welcome pack was appreciated.
