The accommodations were superb and the hosts were generous with their time getting us settled in. The breakfast was made to order and substantial. Of all the places my wife have visited around the world, this property has been one of our favorites.

We were only going to Stornoway for a day trip , bird watching there and back so we didn't do much in Ullapool. We did not book dinner in the hotel and were unable to eat there as a result. We went done the town and had the same problem and ended up getting a fish supper, so if you are planning eating in the town book ahead to avoid disappointment. The fish supper was very good by the way.

It seems like a nice little town - it has a beautiful loch and some nice stores. There is a cute little sidewalk cafe, called "Tea on the Wall" They have very good carrot cake. Ullapool is a dog friendly town - they put out bowls of water for the pups.

Lovely little harbour town with quaint shops and facilities.

Lovely little harbour town with quaint shops and facilities. The ferry terminal gives access to other islands should you wish to explore more than just the mainland. This was a perfect stopover for us on our motorbiking tour of the highlands and we were very pleased that the Caledonian Hotel where we stayed had a tolerance of bikers and as well as providing great accommodation and food also sold the NC500 T-shirts, badges, stickers, etc.

We were heading off to complete the nc500 on motorbike and used Ullapool as a starting point ,so in this respect it provides all you need before you set off. Just remember to charge your phone if traveling by bike as you may need it to arrange recovery as I had to do. Please ensure you prepare for all eventualities as the weather in the North of Scotland changes frequently.

Ullapool is a very pretty small town but the most important thing about it is the ferry to Stornoway. I think it is telling that if you research things to do in Ullapool, searches return visiting Inverness or visiting the stone circles on the Hebrides. I stayed at Ullapool as a stopover on the way to the Outer Hebrides. Having driven for nine hours to get there, it was excellent for a leisurely walk along the seafront, a couple of drinks in the Arch Inn (from a beer point of view the best pub I found), dinner and an overnight stay before catching the ferry the next morning. There was mention in Ullapool of a golf course but not being a golfer I did not research this. Ullapool has a Tesco which is very helpful for last minute provisions.

Quite a nice hotel, with beautiful views across the harbour to the town of Ullapool. Parking onsite. Lovely lounge area downstairs where you can sit and have a drink while watching the harbour, and breakfast is also served in a room downstairs, from a menu not buffet style. Unfortunately they don’t serve dinner, so you do need to venture into the town. It was raining while we were there, so we drove in as it’s a little way for walking, especially if raining. Nice hotel and we would stay again.

Hotel is ideally located in the centre of Ullapool. Our bedroom had been updated and was pleasant and comfy. We ate in the Bistro where the food choice was good and reasonably priced. Excellent car park at the back of the hotel.
