The rooms appear to have been recently upgraded from what looks like an older building structure on the outside. The exterior grounds were under construction for renovation while we were there, but we were very happy with our overall stay. The hotel is only a 20 minute drive from the Tongariro Crossing Car Park.

Tongariro Lodge is located in 22 acres of secluded grounds, surrounded by a beautiful garden landscape and along the banks of Tongariro River. The breakfast was good. Coffee wasn’t great.
