Our family had a wonderful stay at Utupoa. After three nights, we really felt like it was our home away from home. The building is a wonder and itself worth the visit. Joyce and her team were so attentive, personable, and helpful and family-style meals were excellent. Utupoa sits directly on the beach and easily reachable by foot from the village of Matemwe. The location is ideal, just up the street from the beach. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. They help guide you to good places to eat, activities to do and pricing of products sold in the village. We feel very safe here. The breakfast is fresh and delicious. The pool is perfect and even has jets in it.

The somewhat isolated beachfront location was ideal. The beach felt private and shoreline beautiful. Activities within walking distance. Water lovely for swimming in. Infinity pool also rather perfect. Facility provided everything desirable for relaxing. Ate all meals onsite and everything was truly delicious.

We had a great stay at Nungwi Roses, the hotel itself is wonderful on the eyes, very well decorated, a lot of plants all around to really give it a tropical feel. It’s right off the main road as well. Room was clean, had really cool design features, comfortable and a strong aircon. It felt like being in a quiet private villa (that’s pink). Owners are very nice, welcoming and helpful. Great for pictures by the pool as well!

Great accommodation. The houses and garden are amazing. Room is clean and cozy with great view. The staff are very friendly and did their work very well. Food is a little expensive but delicious. We really enjoy these days spending in Sunshine Marine Lodge.

Hebe Bungalows Lodge is a unique lodging on the northeast shore of Zanzibar. The lodge is enclosed within a high wall and security gate. The road to the lodge is unpaved and rough. It winds through the local village where poverty is evident. The location was good for my snorkeling tour near Mnemba Island. I liked my room (#7) and the view. The staff were professional and friendly. The restaurant was enjoyable and the food was good.
The beautiful and helpful staff are the highlight of Sunshine Marine Lodge. The food was excellent, with a wide array of options to choose from. The spa is a fantastic amenity to the lodge, with lots of affordable treatments carried out by the team of great therapists. Yoga with Ana (who is a fantastic teacher) is also a really great addition to the property and I recommend to future guests taking some classes to unwind from your day and carry you into a chilled evening.
Overall we can only recommend Sunshine Marine Lodge. Food was really tasty, especially if you know that their sell it (breakfast and dinner) as a half-board.
Staff was friendly and always helpful. They work toghether with Floral-tours agency and organize you all transfers and excursion all over the island. There is also Diving point base on the property. So this is really very good place if you want good snorkeling or diving excursion and make a peacful retreat in a small not crowded hotel...
Hebe Lodge is a really lovely place. The food is exceptional, as we wanted to explore the area we didn't eat there every night, however I must say we regretted because everytime we thought that HEBE was just so much better! The rooms are lovely, the stuff is always available. Nice breakfast and l loved the tropical garden.
We only have positive experiences from Hebe Bugalow Lodge. We are a family of 4 who spent 6 nights in Zanzibar. The hotel has the best staff. They are kind, honest, helpful, and always friendly. Additionally, they serve delicious and fresh breakfast. The area is especially great because you get to experience the local community and it is not overrun with tourists. The owner, Peter, is ready to greet guests upon arrival.
