First of all, we had a very warm welcome by Abdullah who was at reception and our check in and room was done earlier than expected. The Garden Villa room was amazing and so spacious. Water in the room was so warm throughout the day.
The location is the best on nungwi as the beach is on your doorstep. Mnemba island is a must. Finally the food and service was a 10/10. Amazing staff who always made sure everything was ok and provided all the information and assistance when required. The head chef kelash provided us with some amazing cuisines and brilliant hospitality. I will definitely be visiting again.

The staff at Kibanda lodge are extremely helpful and friendly, always trying their best to help us and accommodate us. We enjoyed our stay even though there were a few hiccups. The lodge is under renovation / building new units so there was that noise and construction during our stay. They even let us use the next door room’s shower when ours didn’t work and tried their best to get it fixed on time. They didn’t have another room to accommodate us but the kind host Francheska gave us complimentary drinks to apologise for the inconvenience.
Mercy also decorated my room for my birthday - thank you, I loved it.
The food is also pleasant- you have a set menu you choose from. There’s a starter and main for lunch. And dinner you get a starter main and dessert. These are portioned size meals and not buffet style. The full board only included meals and water no other drinks.
No other snacks and drinks through out the day. I’m mentioning this because if you’re looking for all inclusives with drinks - this isn’t it.
Beach club is away from lodge but there’s a driver and taxi to take you and bring you back. You have breakfast and dinner at the lodge, lunch is at the beach club. I liked that they had security watching the beach club and tourists/ guests because the locals do tend to trouble you a lot to buy stuff.
I actually enjoyed the beach club area. It’s vibey and they usually have good music playing. The sunsets here are quiet!

Hebe Bungalows Lodge is a unique lodging on the northeast shore of Zanzibar. The lodge is enclosed within a high wall and security gate. The road to the lodge is unpaved and rough. It winds through the local village where poverty is evident. The location was good for my snorkeling tour near Mnemba Island. I liked my room (#7) and the view. The staff were professional and friendly. The restaurant was enjoyable and the food was good.
The beautiful and helpful staff are the highlight of Sunshine Marine Lodge. The food was excellent, with a wide array of options to choose from. The spa is a fantastic amenity to the lodge, with lots of affordable treatments carried out by the team of great therapists. Yoga with Ana (who is a fantastic teacher) is also a really great addition to the property and I recommend to future guests taking some classes to unwind from your day and carry you into a chilled evening.
Overall we can only recommend Sunshine Marine Lodge. Food was really tasty, especially if you know that their sell it (breakfast and dinner) as a half-board.
Staff was friendly and always helpful. They work toghether with Floral-tours agency and organize you all transfers and excursion all over the island. There is also Diving point base on the property. So this is really very good place if you want good snorkeling or diving excursion and make a peacful retreat in a small not crowded hotel...
Hebe Lodge is a really lovely place. The food is exceptional, as we wanted to explore the area we didn't eat there every night, however I must say we regretted because everytime we thought that HEBE was just so much better! The rooms are lovely, the stuff is always available. Nice breakfast and l loved the tropical garden.
We only have positive experiences from Hebe Bugalow Lodge. We are a family of 4 who spent 6 nights in Zanzibar. The hotel has the best staff. They are kind, honest, helpful, and always friendly. Additionally, they serve delicious and fresh breakfast. The area is especially great because you get to experience the local community and it is not overrun with tourists. The owner, Peter, is ready to greet guests upon arrival.
