Great historic site in reach with day tours. Antalya has sandy beaches, which is not my favourite. If you are staying in old city, there is only one beach in walking distance. Great local food selection. When you move from old town, food prices are very affordable in local restaurants. People are very frindly.

If you like Türkiye then you will love Antalya.
If you like Türkiye then you will love Antalya. All the usual Turkish treats, the usual shops etc. Close to the airport. Great archaeological museum. Some great restaurants - Sampiyon near the big mosque on the edge of the old town has great food and friendly service. Restaurants with great views overlooking the bay tended to not have as great food or service or pricing. Do not buy ice cream from the magic show sellers - it's a rip off.
You can ride the tram for 20 lira. Use the red line to get to the museum and the beaches (both end of the line).

This may sound stupid, but I just would like to share - plan your holidays more properly, not like I did! I've never been to Antalia before, but knowing that it is situated on the seashore I was pretty sure there will be plenty of beachen in the city. So I booked a hotel right in the city center Kaleici (I love city hotels), but I didn't realize that the seashore is all high rocks and there are no beaches whatsoever... Luckily there was one little beach in the city center which belongs to a restaurant and you have to pay entrace fee. Which is fine, I was happy there was at least this beach, otherwise you should take a taxi to ride about 30 minutes to the nearest beach... So this little beach just saved my holiday :)

Hot weather, lots of sunshine, salty sea, fruit - this was what we expected from our trip, and there was plenty of it! The Saturday bazaar with the freshest fruit and vegetables was great. But otherwise Antalya was a disappointment. The famous hospitality turned out to be intrusive and pushy, driven by the lust for profit. There is a lot of rubbish, dirt and dust everywhere. The food is very tasty at first glance, but quickly becomes boring. Too much fried food. The supermarket range is cheesy and too localised in many categories.

I took the all inclusive option, it was totally worth it, although the restaurant gets very crowded during peak meal times. in order to avoid that, go early for your meals. Also, it’s a family hotel, so expect a lot of noise and if you’re a couple who just want to spend some quality time together, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The snacks that is offered is of good quality. The spa and pool facilities were good and nightly entertainment is also offered.
Safe and central location. Taxi readily available at cheap cost. Close to great shops. The pool-side in the hotel is excellent for suntan and relaxation. Pool-side staff are very courteous. But the beach with its rocky side does not compare to the sandy beaches we have in Vancouver. Staff (and all Turkish people whom I met) do care for the tourist as people (i.e., you are treated as a guest and not as a money source). I liked Turkey and the Turkish people.
All inclusive concept for this money was a great deal.
Hotel transfer service from Antalya Airport and back was superb. Thanks Süleyman! Recommend for big families, good value for money. Great choice of food and entertainment. Seafront.
