Although a number of things to do in the area existed, this was an 'overnight on the road' for our journey. Charming & felt secluded. Hosts were outstanding & breakfast & conversation before getting back on the road were very enjoyable.

We take pride in tailoring our service to specifically meet your individual needs, whether your stay is for business, vacation or related to medical procedures, so please let us know. We are located on two acres of land, half of which is in QEII covenanted native bush. The house grounds are laid out in an English garden setting, with large expansive lawns, flowering shrubs, trees, roses and fruit trees. We are in the countryside, but only a five minute drive to the delightful little township of Warkworth where there is shopping and cafes. Road & traffic noise is minimal with no street lighting making your stay very peaceful and quiet. A tranquil private oasis often filled with the sounds of native birds. Home baking on your snack tray together with home made food including bread, yoghurt and marmalade, are regularly part of the generous complementary breakfast. We also accommodate any special dietary requirements, preferably with advance notice.
Alan and Linley, your hosts, are keen gardeners and are widely travelled both domestically and internationally. Over breakfast in our house dining room, Alan is keen to listen to your experiences and to share his and Linley's with you. Born and bred at the bottom of the South Island and having now lived at the northern end of the country for almost 40 years, your hosts possess extensive in depth knowledge of New Zealand and its tourist attractions. They are more than happy to guide and offer assistance with your travel plans.
We are on the outskirts of Warkworth with sheep & cows as some of our neighbours. A kauri bush walk at the Museum is very close by. Warkworth itself has a population of about 5,000 residents. This increases to about 10,000 including nearby townships. Wine growing is very popular with many boutique wineries, where you can sample to purchase for later drinking also dine out. Beaches are about a 30 minute drive to the better ones which on good days are popular for a range of activities. The marine reserve at Goat Island offers an intimate experience with many species of fish. Beautiful Omaha Beach offers swimming, surfing and paddle boarding. Boards can be hired. Tawharanui Regional Park boasts several delightful and secluded beaches in an area where native birds abound due to predator proof fencing and DOC and locals are ensuring that this status remains. It is sometimes possible to observe the nocturnal kiwi. Warkworth has traditionally been a convenient stopover between the Bay of Islands and Rotorua/Coromandel but it is now a genuine destination in its own right with a multitude of activities including nearby Matakana, also pottery, art, sculpture, horse treks and birds.
