Company info

Hi I am Martin, I live with my wife Tracy. Along with Honeysuckle Cottage we have three other holiday lets. Primrose Cabin, Primrose Cottage, which is a few hundred yards down the lane. and The Dairyman Suite which is a unique Band B suite at our farm just a mile away; all can be viewed on Booking site I am an artist, thoroughly inspired by the local landscape. My wife is a freelance writer and author. I grew up in the New Forest and my wife moved to Dorset when we married some 30 plus years ago. We moved to this area a decade or so ago. We enjoy the outdoors and are both very creative. We know Dorset well and have tried to provide as much information as we can for your enjoyment. We have tried to make all our properties to the standard of somewhere we would like to stay. We are blessed to live in such a beautiful county. We hope you love it as much as we do.

Property info

Just a short walk from the village of Moreton, Honeysuckle Cottage is set amid a large pet proof private garden, which boasts hammocks, benches, wild flower areas, outside dining, BBQ and patio. The surrounding areas are stunning countryside and forest. There are ample walks and cycling on the doorstep and a wide river in the local village for wild swimming and having fun. The house has two bedrooms, one main with large king bed. In this room we can provide a travel cot on request. The second bedroom offers two full size single beds, perfect for adults or children. There is a stair gate for safety at top of the stairs. The spacious but cozy lounge has a reclining sofa, and arm chairs as well as a dining table. There is a lovely log burner and inglenook fireplace and Smart TV with Satellite, this offers a multitude of channels. There is also board games, colouring, and a well stocked bookshelf. The bathroom is well equipped with bath and shower. Honeysuckle Cottage was a former blacksmith and gamekeepers cottage built in the early 1800s. It is a quaint, cosy, grade 2 listed thatch. The uniqueness comes from its quirky features such as paneled stairs, original bread oven, and inglenook fireplace. The cottage was fully and sympathetically restored in 2020 and offers everything for all stays, for you and your doggie friends. The peace is tangible only broken by the snuffle of deer that occasionally walk through the garden. If you want tranquil, safe peace or a lovely family stay with easy access to woodland walks, beaches and tourist attractions the cottage is a great place to choose. We have another cottage that sleeps 4 and a log cabin that sleeps two, close to amenities and beaches yet all in there own private settings and all within a short distance of each other, we try to provide a memorable stay for our guests. We also have a unique little B and B suite at our 18th Century farm house, a mile up the road. We look forward to welcoming you if you choose to stay.

Neighborhood info

There is so much to see. In Moreton itself is a beautiful river with a large ford perfect for paddling, wild swimming, picnics or just relaxing, your doggies will love this spot, full of furry delights! There is a bridge across the river leading to spectacular walks through the surrounding forest, perfect for walking and bike rides. Lawrence of Arabia's grave is in Moreton, his house, Clouds Hill, now National Trust is on the outskirts of the village. The walled garden and tea rooms offer cream teas, breakfasts and lunches, there is a pet corner, plant sales and children's play park as well as lovely formal gardens and entry is free. Moreton church is a must visit with its unique window etchings. There are also a number of National Trust properties locally for you to explore, Clouds Hill, Hardy's Cottage, Maxgate, Kingston Lacy and Brownsea Island are but a few of the nearest. Thomas Hardy's Thorncombe Wood is a beautiful example of ancient woodland. The Autumn colours and bluebells are stunning. Kingston Maurwood is a great place too, for families especially. Monkey World and The Tank Museum are a 15 minute drive. The famous Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove beaches are 20 minutes away. Other close beaches are Chesil and Weymouth. Corfe Castle is dramatic with its pretty village and good dog friendly pubs. The historic towns of Dorchester and Wareham are a 20 minute drive also, they offer markets Wednesday and Saturday among other interesting attractions, All in all walking, cycling, sunbathing, adventuring and exploring days out or just well deserved relaxation is all on our doorstep.
