The hostel has brand new equipments, toilets and bathrooms are perfectly clean, the kitchen is well equipped, there's a washing machine too. The bunk beds are high and comfortable, there's a locker for each traveler and a table in the middle of the room, which was very appreciated to work, put things on it, play games... The lockers are huge (big backpacks easily fit on them) with a wardrobe part and a small shelf to put things like toiletries. The environment is calm, and there's not that much noise from the road.

We managed eventually, with the help of friends, but warning would have been appreciated. Apart from that, everything was as advertised, and even better (generous bathroom, clean, high-end appliances, they managed to squeeze in a refrigerator, coffee maker and electric mug for tea, free change of towels). Excellent value for money, friendly staff, great location. Highly recommended.

Situated in a pedestrian area inside Cluj-Napoca's mediaeval city wall, Hostel Retro offers 24-hour reception, free bicycles, as well as a sauna for a surcharge. The bathrooms are either shared, located next to the rooms, or en-suite. Staff was exceptionally helpful, super friendly and on top of that very interesting to talk to. It’s what’s most memorable about the hostel I’d say. The atmosphere is really nice as well, easy to meet people. Location couldn’t be better. Luggage storage after check out was possible as well.

At the accommodation every room includes bed linen and towels. I lucked out in finding this lodging. It is within a few hundred meters of the Cluj's Botanical Garden. It is also only a few blocks ...downhill and then level... from the city's main square. I couldn't have asked for a better location! I happened to arrive at a time when the owner/manager had arrived so we were able to arrange everything quickly. I thought the common bathroom was clean and the property was well-lit at night, both inside and outside. I also think the neighborhood was safe.
