Set in a stunning Regency mansion overlooking Esthwaite Water, YHA Hawkshead stands within beautiful grounds just a mile from Hawkshead village. Loved this YHA. Short walk to Hawkshead village with a small shop, pubs and great ice cream! Some amazing walks had from here.

The YHA Ambleside sits on the shores of Lake Windermere in the Lake District. It offers a range of budget accommodation and a café serving local food. It's a wonderful clean place. It has a huge kitchen. The facilities are great. Free water is available. It is a very nice foundation hostel by the lake. But the internet is very bad. I ask you to fix it.

Located in the market town of Keswick in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Denton House Hostel is just a 5-minute stroll from Keswick Leisure Centre. The location was beautiful! It was across the street from the Greta River and right beside the old rail line that is now a walk/run/bike trail. It is a 5-10 minute walk into the centre of town and just over 10 minutes to Derwent Lake. My bed was in the annex with the main building with all the kitchen/dining area/common room in the neighbour building about 5 metres away. I loved everything!

Beautiful location, driving there in the evening was lovely with it nestled in between the hills! Was expecting the basics because it's a barn, but had good shower, bathroom, kitchen that was VERY well equipped (microwave, fridge, cooking gear, kettle, plates, cutlery). You will need some coins for the shower but it lasts so long that you can probably let everyone in the barn shower with that pound! The host even put the fire on without us knowing to help dry our clothes/boots which was lovely. I saw a few previous reviews that said it was dirty on the floor.....i would like to make it clear that it is a BARN. The floor is dusty because people are walking around with their boots on, but everything else is spotless. It will be as clean as the people visiting allow it to be. Would definitely stay again, if you want a basic but lovely accommodation and if you're looking to walk all day and sleep in a warm bed at night for a cheap price it is perfect.

Situated in the Cumbrian countryside, conveniently located to visit the Lake District, YHA Helvellyn has on-site free parking and a bar. Great location, great room, friendly staff

The room was spacious, with storage boxes provided under the beds. Multiple showers and bathrooms. Rooms cleaned daily. Great location to hiking nearby.

Set in a grand Victorian mansion, YHA Langdale is a National Trust property with leafy grounds, cosy log fires and a restaurant. The Lake District hostel is situated between Elterwater and Grasmere. location, location, location. Now if you take the bus and walk from Grasmere, it’s a long uphill walk to the hostel. BUT once you arrive, you know it was worth it. The hostel / building is absolutely beautiful. The grounds were lush and green and I really enjoyed talking walks.

This Lakeland slate house is 0.5 miles above Buttermere village, and ideal for the famous Haystacks walk. YHA Buttermere has a bar/restaurant with views of the Red Pike and High Stile mountains. Staff extremely friendly and offered me directions for my planned walking routes the next day. Big building with self catering facilities, plenty of loos and showers. Food (dinner and breakfast) was very nice and in line with other YHA hostels I’ve stayed at. Big spacious lounge with superb views. Good location for hiking.
