I had an excellent stay at Refugio Terra Esperanza. Emerson was so helpful in answering all my questions. Excellent services. He cooked me breakfast for $3 and helped me call a taxi to Cumbre Imbabura (which I highly recommend). The place itself is rustic, but charming and cozy. It has great views of Imbabura and Cayambe, so definitely try to wake up early for that. Overall, I would highly recommend this refugio to anyone traveling here. It was so authentic with great architecture and atmosphere. Marcus (the owner) and Isolina were super-friendly. The room was so clean, my wife and I loved the beds, patio, fireplace, and views. The breakfast/dinner area is so authentic too, you feel it's like a museum. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. Also, Cascada de Peguche (waterfall) is only 10 mins away. Thank you Marcus and Isolina for the great experience! I highly recommend this place if you are heading to Otavalo.
