Our room was really spacious, beds comfy, and lots of blanket to keep us warm. The town is 15 min walk, or less down, maybe more up. The owners are really friendly and help us out a lot (planning and organizing some side trip, deopping us off in town when we had bank issues, ect). Breakfast was good and filling with warm bread, jam, eggs, fresh juice, tea, coffee, chocolate.

He cooked me breakfast for $3 and helped me call a taxi to Cumbre Imbabura (which I highly recommend). The place itself is rustic, but charming and cozy. It has great views of Imbabura and Cayambe, so definitely try to wake up early for that. Overall, I would highly recommend this refugio to anyone traveling here. Emerson is a great host and I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you Emerson!

The hotel is in close proximity to Otavalo's traditional market, but far enough out of town to be quiet at night. Our hotel was the perfect place to come home to after our day in the market, and the staff even washed our laundry while we were away for a reasonable cost! For nature lovers, there's a beautiful waterfall just down the street from the hotel.
