The couple managing this Guesthouse are very warm and welcoming. They took good care of us, meeting us when we reached the train station. They arranged transport for us to do our treks at different sections of the great wall. The weather was not in our favour on the first day but we enjoyed the good company and friendly conversation over many cups of tea. Our beds were also comfortable, and it was convenient to have attached toilet with good supply of hot water. There are not many food options around but we purchased very delicious meals and ate at the Guesthouse. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.

This accommodation is located in the Central Area with a lot of food options nearby yet away from the hustle in a small alley (Hutong). Further hidden inside a cafe, which I felt very safe and exclusive. Staff members are super friendly and helpful to assist with enquiries, housekeeping and also some logistic issues.

It is situated 26 km from Ming Tombs and provides a housekeeping service. The homestay features mountain views, a picnic area and a 24-hour front desk. This was my second time at Derunju Guesthouse. This time I cycled from Beijing via the Ansi Road, which turned out to be much easier but less scenic than the Huaichang Road. I stayed for two nights. I thoroughly enjoyed the warm welcome of the proprietress and the ample and delicious food she prepared for me. I can recommend the pork roasted with chestnuts and the pancakes! The room was spacious and painstakingly clean. Fast internet is available. Great views from the terrace and a short stroll to the Water Great Wall Park entrance and downtown.

At the homestay, every unit is fitted with bed linen and towels. A great place to stay to visit the great wall and experience a peaceful Chinese village. The entrance to the great wall is just a short walk. This section of the great wall is so quiet that we have the whole place to ourselves. It is also not very restored so you get to see some of the original wall. They also cooked fresh food from their garden for us. I have been to Beijing twice and did all the major tourist spots. I have to say staying here and hiking the wall in peace is my best Beijing experience.
