Set in Pen-y-cae and with Grand Theatre reachable within 30 km, The Ancient Briton offers a garden, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar. Stayed here after doing the 4 waterfalls walk. After a good 5 hours of walking we arrived at the Ancient Briton we were greeted by friendly helpful staff and shown to our room. Recently refurbished pub the room was very spacious and very clean and the beds very comfortable. We later went on to have a meal the food was very good all locally sourced meat etc and the deserts hand made. In the morning breakfast was prepared by emma the landlady and again was beyond expectation. Overall I was very impressed and would highly recommend the Ancient Briton

I discovered this inn during a challenging cycling trip through Wales. Upon my late arrival, I was touched to find a sandwich and milk waiting in my room - a simple gesture that meant everything at that moment. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room quiet and perfectly clean. Breakfast was also excellent, setting me up perfectly for another day of cycling. What truly stood out, though, was the genuine warmth of the staff. Their kindness made me feel truly welcome despite my disheveled state. The village and surrounding area are peaceful and picturesque. While my stay was brief, I'm already planning a return visit to properly explore the area.

Boasting a garden and views of river, Aberllynfi Riverside Guest House is a bed and breakfast set in a historic building in Glasbury, 45 km from Elan Valley. Fantastic location with an amazing view of the lake. The room had character but was tastefully decorated. The entrance and staircase is incredible! Breakfast was top notch. It was a great stay.

Ty Helyg Guest House is located in Brecon. Free WiFi access is available and the Brecon Beacons National Park is less than 10 minutes' walk away. This was a wonderful place to stay with a comfortable room with everything you could want. A lot of thought had gone into providing a very high standard of extras, such as fresh milk and having hot chocolate available if desired. All this, combined with the friendliness and unobtrusive helpfulness of the host and her delicious breakfasts made for an unforgettable stay in Brecon.

Set in Llanbister, 24 km from Elan Valley, Lion Hotel offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. Great location dog friendly amazing views all around . Up the hill were panaramic veiws Well worth the money would definitely stay again

The Old Vicarage Dolfor has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, set in Newtown, 44 km from Elan Valley. This 5-star guest house offers a garden. The guest house features family rooms. It ticks all the boxes. A very clean, tastefully decorated. House is set in countryside with lovely views. Bed is very comfortable, really nice breakfast. I was so glad that it was fresh orange juice and strong ground coffee. Nice location for walks. I walked into Newtown which was about 35 minutes. Can't wait to stay again

Situated in Llandrindod Wells and only 17 km from Elan Valley, Greylands Guest House features accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. The staff was amazing. The breakfast was out of this world. Amazing experience!

Situated in Brecon, 47 km from Elan Valley, Plough and Harrow features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. The genuine friendliness of Sue, the land lady, and not forgetting wee doggie Paddy, her adorable dog. Beds super comfy and room/shower immaculate. Let’s not forget the locally sourced food which was all locally sourced. Breakfast was delicious and supper beautifully presented and yummy scrumpy. Absolutely first class all the way
