Located 1 km away from Lucerne, Gasthaus zur Waldegg features 2 restaurants offering traditional Swiss and international cuisine, a bar and a beer garden overlooking Mount Pilatus. This is such a hidden germ! The room we stayed in was fully renovated, with a nice balcony and a great view of the mountains. In general, we really appreciated the hospitality — the staff were very kind and welcoming and there were thoughtful touches like free coffee and water carafes in the communal area, as well as an “honesty bar.” After a long day of discovering beautiful Lucerne and its surroundings, you can try local beers in the garden under the shade of the trees (which seem to be frequented by locals as well.) The location is perfect as it’s very close to the city center (direct bus line, train stop 5 min walk away) but also gives easier access to Alpnachstad/mountains. We hope to be back!

Bus right outside the door. Perfect. The host is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Strongly recommend this place.

The property is located only a few meters from the beautiful lake and is also visible from the room which is so relaxing, you can and will find almost everything that you might need for the stay at Sandra’s. She is an amazing host, and you will feel right at home. Bus stop and restaurants are close and you can easily spend few days in this quaint town. Everything was super clean, would like to come back here again :)

Very nice room, clean, bright with great views from the balcony of the mountains and the lake. The shared kitchen and bathroom are also wonderful, there is everything you need for living, I especially liked the coffee machine. I especially want to note the staff are very nice, administrators will help you in any questions. Close to everything you need, near supermarkets, not far from the waterfront, parking nearby, ferry station and many good places.

Þetta hefðbundna sveitahótel í Triengen hefur verið fjölskyldurekið í yfir 350 ár. Það er í 8 km fjarlægð frá Sursee og í 30 km fjarlægð frá Lucerne. Perfect service, room was big with sitting area, welcome by owner was very friendly. Restaurant with traditional dishes were very tasty. Price / quality was top. Breakfast before 9 was served in room building, all was available, top service.

We were offered to stay at Hotel Central am See and again in an upgraded room with a full lake view in front of us (including the bathroom). And the breakfast was marvellous including a fresh cooked egg as per our wish!
