She also runs a small cafe shop, just across the street. There is a large swimming pool - it was too cold for us, but if you arrive in hot days, it looks great.

There is a saltwater swimming pool that looked very inviting, but we did not use. Very modern facility that did suit us well.

The Quinta do Valdelágea was lovely. It had my essential requirements: a good shower with plenty of hot water and comfy beds. The breakfast was delicious and especially nice the last day when we could eat outside. Anabel was most helpful. This was probably our favorite place in our entire Portugal stay.

It didn’t feel like we’re staying in a hotel, as much as going to visit close family. They went above and beyond to meet our requests, and have a wealth of knowledge about the region, history and gave us very detailed and practical recommendations. The views from the room were gorgeous, overlooking the river and rolling hills of vineyards. In the morning, we were treated to an amazing breakfast- the son represented Portugal in competition for young chefs. It’s a feast for senses.
