We also made trips to Cape Palliser, to the Putangirua Pinnacles (the Dimholt Road for lotr-fans), the Rivendell-location and the Waiohine-Gorge. Breakfast with homemade bread and fresh eggs was outstanding and the hosts recommended lovely restaurants. Last but not least - we loved Hazel and Lotta, the two dogs of the family. Located on 3000 acres of land opposite Ocean Beach, Wharekauhau Country Estate boasts a day spa, a tennis court and an outdoor pool. We felt absolutely spoiled. We were welcomed with open arms. The staff were outstanding, informatve and very friendly. Although the dinner menu was very limited the quality was 5 star. Accommodation was absolutely immaculate and so comfortable. Will definitely be back even though it was a bit pricey.
