We love staying in old Japanese houses, and this one has been the best yet. It is so very well maintained and the gardens are gorgeous. We loved sitting in the mornings in the sun room overlooking the garden where you could hear the ocean waves. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and directly next to the beautiful beach. So many stars to see from the backyard! It was a very peaceful stay.

I highly recommend travellers to stay at this guest-house, especially if you want to experience Japanese country life. People in shimosato are friendly, and the owners were kind and answered questions in time. The house is kept clean, and has a very nice space for cooking.

The Indian restaurant within the hotel was very nice, and the staff were very kind and accommodating. Staying at the hotel was overall great, despite the part I didn't like
