King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn slept in one of the bedchambers and walked through the ancient gardens at Thornbury Castle - A Relais & Chateaux Hotel, a Tudor castle near the Cotswolds and Welsh... What an enchanting place suffused with so much history! You could feel the ghosts of Henry the VIII and his wives and mistresses wandering the gardens and the halls. We were luck with the weather - sunshiny and summerlike - and spent the late afternoon and early evening sitting out in one of the gardens listening to the blackbird songs. The dinner in the library was excellent - everything prepared with infinite care and attention. And the service was attentive but not intrusive. The gardens, a recent labor of love, are just now coming into full realization. A perfect stay.

The host was an angel, I did a mistake with the booking dates and she helped us to accommodate meanwhile we solved the issue. Super kind a nice host … 100% recommended.

Absolutely beautiful house. The size and space we didn't know where to start! 4 large bedrooms, 2 showers, one downstairs one up. The kitchen was my favourite! Alec and Annemarie were amazing from the get-go. On arrival, we had been left wine and snacks with the cupboard and fridge stocked with beer, milk, water, tea and coffee, and other essentials! Plenty of towels and pillows 5***** definitely deserved, and we're looking forward to staying again. The location was perfect with pretty much everything within walking distance. We went for a concert at ashton Gate Stadium, which was only a 20-minute walk. Asda is a 5 minute walk. Highly recommend to everyone! Thank you for a wonderful weekend! 🙂
